Quakes rumble Yemen, South Pacific, Argentina and Japan. Following a 6.0-magnitude temblor
on Sunday, July 25 off the coasts of Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga in the South Pacific,
inhabitants of Beit Boss near Yemen’s capital of Sana’a were shaken by a 4.0 quake in
the early hours of Monday. Also on Monday, Argentina’s Salta region was jolted by a
5.3 temblor, while a 5.2 quake struck 20 kilometers off the coast of Japan’s Iwate Prefecture
the following day. There were fortunately no reports of injury, damage or tsunami warnings
for any of the events.
We are relieved to know that the quake-shaken residents are safe. May our striving for gentler
regard of our planetary home ease such disruptive events as these
