I’m Julien Faliu, and I launched Expat Blog in 2005.
I live in Mauritius.
Being an expat myself,
I created the site as an information-sharing community
for other expats around the world.
It now gets 2.7 million visits and 12 million page views a month.
I started working with Google in 2008
to help pay the costs of operating the site.
When I saw that I was starting to make money from it,
I devoted myself to the project full time.
Today, my ad revenue accounts
for between a quarter and a third of my total earnings.
Google has enabled me to grow and hire new staff.
I now have fifteen.
We’re concentrating a lot of our efforts
on developing the mobile version of the site.
In the future, I hope to work with private investors
to accelerate the growth of my business.
We’re on a small island, but we do big things.
Google products have supported our project since the beginning,
and will continue to do so in the future.
Make the web work for you.
