What can students do to improve their chances of getting their scholarships?
I guess, firstly, just be aware of the scholarships. If you go to the scholarships website there's
a very useful tool which filters out what is available. If you go right now you will
only see probably quite a small selection of what is on offer or potentially on offer
and that is because we do a big launch for our scholarships for Curtin on our Open Day
for Curtin which is on the 8th of August.
So after that day is a good date to go and check and what you can do is use a filter
system to select, and to see what scholarships are available in accordance with the course
or particular categories that you fall into.
Another great way of being aware of what's coming up is to sign up to our scholarships
alert which I believe these are all in your packs. This is just a fantastic system where
you can go in, put your details down, put your particular categories of what you are
interested in studying and then what will happen is, once a scholarship that's relevant
to that becomes available you will be sent an email saying "This is now open" and you
can go look at the details for those scholarships.
That's obviously very useful tool because I would imagine some students see a scholarship
as something that's "not for me" or "I'm not smart enough" or "circumstances are not right"
but the advice is I guess to really just explore and investigate those opportunities because
obviously the benefits are fantastic.
They are, absolutely. It's obviously there to help students through the course of their
studies so it's a great thing to take advantage of. And the other thing too in terms of the
process is just to make sure that you know the opening and closing dates for the particular
scholarships and you fill out the application form and all the relevant documentation that
it might require as well.
