Now you see me, now you don't.
Oh no, you still see me.
But you won't in a second because I'm going
to show you how to make a Duck Tape Prism
Mask with this glorious, sparkly, happy prism.
This is the Lots of Dots because there's lots of dots on it.
So first you want to start out with the mask shape itself.
I just traced a mask shape on this foam core board.
And then you want to carefully cut it out with your craft knife.
So now it's time to decorate it.
And I'm going to use this checker print to cover my entire mask.
But first I need to cover the area where the eye sockets are.
And you need to just cut some small strips to do that, which I pre-cut here
because it's easier to mold around those small little openings.
So I'll just start going around until the entire eye area is nicely covered
and it looks a little something like this when you're done.
And then just continue covering the rest of your mask over the eyes.
Later on I'm going to cut out the eye socket using my craft knife.
So now it's time to just wrap around the shape of my mask.
So I'm going to do that by cutting slits all around the perimeter.
Now I'm just folding down these little tabs.
And you can see that that really helps get around the curves here.
And it's going to look a little something like this.
And now I want to add a little handle, so I'm going to use this dowel.
It's a wooden dowel.
And I'm going to cover it with a complimentary color.
So it's just pretty much cutting a piece the length of your dowel rod.
So I'm just going to lay it here and then just roll it.
Wahoo.
So I'm just going to attach it to the back of my mask here using
some more of my checker print.
OK, I'm going to add some more decoration
and I'm going to use Duck Prism to add some feathers.
So you're going to need a piece of wire.
Now you can cut this to the length of however large,
long you want your feathers to be.
So because the Duck Prism needs a little bit more reinforcement
since it's a bit thinner than the original Duck Tape
I'm going to first cover my wire with this white.
I'm just going to sandwich this wire between two pieces of Duck Tape
and I'm just going to make sure I have about two inches at the bottom
because you're going to need a little tail sticking out
to attach to your mask.
All right, so now I'm just going to continue
covering my feather with this Duck Prism Lots of Dots.
And then I'm just going to use the scissors to do a curved line here
that's going to look like a feathers.
So now I'm just going to cut some diagonal lines which will just
make it look more like a fluttery feather.
There we go.
You can kind of move it around and make it look more feather like.
I wanted more than one so I made a few more here.
And I'm going to attach these to the back of my mask using
more of my checker print.
I'm going to just do it on one side.
I'm going to do it on this right side here by my dowel.
There we go.
So my feathers are really nicely securely attached here.
And then this is where you can kind of play with the wire core of the feathers
and sort of wrinkle them and make them even more featheryish.
Great.
I'm just going to add a few more embellishments.
I'm going to cut a very thin piece of my accent color here.
So I'm just going to kind of start here.
Ooh, a little corkscrew, maybe?
Let's see how this is going to look.
Oh, I kind of like how it looks like a ribbon.
So then what I'm going to do is I'm going to add one of these brads.
I'm going to create a little puncture hole first and then just push
the brad through and then flip it over and secure it.
OK, so now I'm going to do that to the other side.
Ah, this might be my favorite thing ever.
Look!
Ah!
I see you but you kind of can't see me.
So this is so fun for New Year's, for parties, whatever.
And there's other examples.
Look at this one with all the colors.
This, amazing.
Look at this tassel.
And then there's other fun things like this.
I see you.
Ooh, what else do we have?
I have this.
I wish I could just put them all on.
I would just wear all of these all at one time and say, happy New Year.
This is how you make Duck Prism party masks.
See you next time.
Thanks for watching.
