Here are some pomegranates. Today we are going to cut some pomegranates
using the a method I saw on YouTube. If you look at this one, you can see that
it has 5 sides and 5 corners. So the first thing to do is to wash it.
Then use the knife to make a thin slice along the edges of the fruit.
Do the same along all 5 edges. Next, cut a full circle along the circumference.
Third, at the flat part of the circumference cut, use the tip of the knife and poke in
a bit. Here is how much to poke in.
Do the same for all 5 sides. After poking it will be much easier to split
the fruit apart. The place where we poke are along the white
parts. The middle of the fruit are seeds so the only
part holding the fruit together is along here. So when you poke here, the fruit can be separated
easily. Why did we make the initial cuts along the
edges? The reason is that it allow the fruit to be
split open easily. The 5 edges we cut are used to separate the
fruit into 5 splits. We take away some of the films.
Then take the fruit and put in face down on the palm of your hand.
Then take a spoon or a wooden spoon and hit the back of the fruit.
You can see more and more seeds in the bowl. This one is about done. I can feel that less
seeds are falling into my hand. Let's take a look. It looks clean.
There are only some membrane which need to be removed.
Basically not a single seed should be broken.
The second piece can be done using the same method.
Split the fruit along the slits which was already cut.
Then flip it over to the top of of your hand. There are still a few seeds remaining.
We can hit it some more to dislodge them. Ok. Done.
Earlier I didn't split along here. There should be 5 sides.
Take out the membranes. That is basically about it.
