Castlevania Symphony Of The Night
before talking about it, a little bit of history
Devil's Castle Dracula is a series of Games created by konami
the first title was released in 1986 for the Famicom
the Famicom is the Japanese version of the NES, it's then
distributed in the West with the name of Castelvania in 1987
the title will then be maintained
for all the rest of the games
Except for some differences with some games released in Japan
Now the series has about twenty games on several
platforms like the NES or
pc engine, the Wii, PS3 and xbox 360
psp, ps2, ps1: in short, all platforms.
the plot of the game
is always the same: it's
the eternal struggle between good and evil
in particular between a vampire hunter
of the Belmont clan and
Count Dracula. Each chapter has the same goal
You have to kill Count Dracula.
In the next game Dracula will
rise and
a descendant of the Belmont family will have the task to kill him
again
this is the
time line of most of the Castlevania games.
there are some with different characters, but this is not the
point of the review
Let's now talk about the protagonist of this episode
Symphony of the Night was released in 1997 for the playstation and a year later for the Saturn
but only in japan
published and distributed by konami is a direct sequel to Rondo Of Blood
Japanese exclusive
Symphony of the Night begins by letting you play the final chapter of Rondo of Blood
in which Richter Blemont kills Dracula then disappear after 4 years. He reappears in
1797 together with the castle of Dracula claiming to be the new master
Here enters the protagonist Alucard
the son of dracula which stands by the humans
alucard is precisely dracula reversed and comes from the movie
the son of dracula, 1943.
our goal is to investigate the castle to figure out what
happened to Richter
Symphony of the night does not have a structure divided by levels.
The immense castle of the count can be explored since the beginning of the game and
precisely the exploration plays fundamental role in the game
because depending on the percentage of castle we explored
there are different Endings
and of course I can not spoil a very important part that serves to
fully complete the game
You need to discover it.
For the first time in this chapter there are RPG elements:
killing enemies accumulate experience points which will then serve to
increase the level
There's an inventory where you can equip two weapons or a
shield and weapon
armor, helmet and accessories
around the castle you can find Relics
that unlock certain Alucard's skills Such as the transformation in
bat, wolf or mist
You can also summon various Familiars that will help you in battle
graphically it's a 2D game that uses parallax scrolling effects
to simulate the depth
the backgrounds are very detailed so as the sprite and various animations
it's considered one of the best 2d platforms and it is certainly among the best
titles in the Playstation Library
the soundtrack has always been the best of the series and here
it's the same: there are various kinds of songs for different situations
and some of the traces will remain etched into your minds
the same thing can be said of the voice acting but in negative: it's so
bad that it has now become a Cult
I have not played many games of the series but certainly
I Was amused and entertained with Symphony of the Night
ignoring the ridiculous dubbing the rest of the game is smooth
Good difficulty and very fun only as a true Castlevania game
can be
See you again, Have fun, BYE!
