Hi! I'm Tiffany Windsor.
Sometimes when I'm looking for creative inspiration, I just walk the
aisles of the craft store.
I might spy a wire
birdcage...
some eggs
throw in a little color inspiration
and a whole new idea emerges.
The inspiration for this project is definitely these little wooden eggs.
They are great to buy by the dozen and you can use them in so many different ways.
Today I am using my Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Spray to glue scrapbook paper
onto the eggs. The first step is to paint your egg
and you want to paint on the top and the sides
and let that dry completely.
You will then
place the egg, face down onto the back of your scrapbook paper
and just trace around to get a pattern line for cutting and you just cut
out the scrapbook paper. Use your Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Spray in a well
ventilated area. Follow the
spray bottle instructions, give it a good shake, spray on the back of the paper
and just press the paper right down onto the wood egg.
Once the glue has dried on the egg, I like to take the edges and just sand them...
this helps to size the paper
right to the egg. It's going to actually remove some of the paper if you
cut it too large
and it leaves an interesting edge.
When all of the edges are sanded, you want to glue on your
embellishments
and to do that I am using
the Aleene's Original Tacky Glue in the gold bottle
and I like to use a wooden skewer
and just dip it right into the glue
and just run it on the back of the ribbon, or the trim or
the embellishments that you are gluing onto the egg ...
press it down
and then you can come in with your scissors and cut it to the exact size.
And press down those edges so that they are firmly glued in place. When you have
finished decorating the eggs, it's time to put your little
display together
and for the bottom I am using sheet moss
and this cute little wire
birdcage.
We'll add another little layer here which is going to give a little bit more
lift
to one of the eggs
just tuck them down in there.
Add some of your paper flowers.
You can tuck them in, you can glue them in...
scatter them around.
I found this cute little bird that also matches that
can be glued right to the top of the cage
and you have a fun tabletop vignette
to celebrate spring and Easter. The Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Spray is
available at Michaels.
It's terrifically tacky and creatively cool.
