Pentek ECP20-20BB Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com.
Today we’re looking at the Pentek ECP20-20BB. This is an industry standard size cartridge
approximately 20 inches long by 4 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit
into many standard whole house filter housings, like for example, the 20BB, commonly known
as the Big Blue. Now the ECP20-20BB utilizes a resin impregnated,
polyester fiber enhanced cellulose media to reduce sediment from your water. It’s rated
at 20 microns, which is just slightly smaller than a speck of milled flour; making it a
perfect choice as a pre-filter for a series of filters or perhaps as a pre-filter before
your water softener. Now because it is cellulose media, it’s
only appropriate for treated water. Water that’s been chlorinated, ozonated, uv’ed,
or that you’re otherwise confident does not have microorganisms living and growing
in it, because those microorganisms could live and grow on this cellulose media. Obviously,
that would be bad. Now filter life on a type of cartridge like
this is difficult, because it’s going to depend on your unique circumstances. If you
have a great deal of sediment and you use a lot of water, you’re going to change the
cartridge more frequently than someone who doesn’t have that much sediment or doesn’t
use that much water. So, it’s going to depend on your unique circumstances.
Again, this is the Pentek ECP20-20BB, and I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com.
Thanks for watching.
