Introducing the BladderScan BVI 9400 bladder volume instrument
with NeuralHarmonics technology.
The BVI 9400 consists of a battery- operated color display console,
an ultrasound probe that scans the patient’s bladder,
and a combination battery charger and wireless hub.
The BladderScan BVI 9400 is designed to scan in 3 patient-specific modes.
To begin, first select the proper exam mode to ensure the accuracy of your scan.
Simply press the mode button repeatedly until the desired setting appears.
Select to scan a male patient, or a female patient who has had a hysterectomy.
Select a female patient who has not had a hysterectomy.
Or, select to scan a small child under 48 inches tall (122 centimeters)
and weighing less than 60 pounds (27 kilograms).
Have the patient lie in the supine position, palpate the patient’s *** bone,
and place an ample quantity of gel midline on the patient’s abdomen,
about 1 inch (or 3 centimeters) above the *** bone.
Standing at the patient’s right side,
place the probe on the gel and aim towards the expected location of the bladder.
Press and release the scan button located on the underside of the probe.
When you hear a beep, the scan is complete, and a bladder volume
measurement is displayed on the console.
The aim is accurate when all 8 arrows are flashing on the probe and
the bladder image is centered in the crosshairs of the console’s aiming icon.
If the scan is off-target, the arrows on the probe indicate the direction of the bladder.
Use these arrows to re-aim the probe for a more accurate scan.
A solid arrow means you are slightly off-target.
A flashing arrow means you are significantly off-target.
Console crosshairs will confirm if the probe is off-target,
and an arrow will point to the direction of the bladder.
Note that the 12-o’clock position on the console coincides with the
orientation of the patient’s head.
You may also see a screen that indicates the *** bone is inside the ultrasound cone.
If this occurs, you may want to re-aim and re-scan.
Although the bladder may be shown centered in the ultrasound cone and
our measurement could be complete, there is a possibility that the public bone is
obscuring some of the bladder.
By re-aiming, you can ensure you have captured the bladder fully inside the
ultrasound cone. When you have verified an accurate scan, the screen will display
your results.
At this point, you may record a voice annotation to save your exam,
Print the exam result from the onboard printer
(please note that printing does not save the scan),
listen to previously recorded annotations, view data from saved exams,
return to the home screen and perform another scan,
or turn off the instrument.
It’s that simple.
The BladderScan BVI 9400 gives you the information you need –
quickly, accurately, noninvasively.
