#5. 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
For 2013, the C-Class sees a number of changes that include a larger (3.5-liter) V6 for the
C300 4Matic that delivers better performance and fuel economy than the former 3.0-liter
V6. The C-Class also gains a fuel-saving automatic engine stop-start feature (C300 4Matic and
C350), available adaptive cruise control, standard mbrace2 smartphone-integrated telematics
and a newly available Sport Plus package.
#4. 2013 BMW 5 Series
The 2013 BMW 5 Series remains a leader among midsize luxury sedans as an all-around performer.
Pros Strong and relatively fuel-efficient engines;
capable handling; clean interior design with high-quality materials; top safety scores;
excellent seats; plenty of high-tech features. Cons
Less sporty than some rivals; smallish trunk. What's New for 2013
Split-folding rear seats and a universal garage door opener are now standard features for
all 2013 BMW 5 Series models.
#3. 2013 Audi Q5
From exciting performance to excellent comfort and convenience, the 2013 Audi Q5's qualities
give it broad appeal. Pros
Top-notch interior craftsmanship; class-leading fuel economy; strong supercharged V6; superb
brake performance; roomy backseat; sporty handling.
Cons Below-average cargo capacity; unintuitive
control layout without navigation; artificial steering feel.
What's New for 2013 For 2013 the Audi Q5 gains a couple of new
underhood options in the form of a supercharged V6 and the brand's first hybrid. This year
also brings a mild style refresh outside, with slightly revised lights front and rear
and a more angular grille. Inside, there are simplified controls for the climate controls
and MMI interface.
#2. 2013 Lexus RX 350
The 2013 Lexus RX 350 leads when it comes to providing a plush ride, a luxurious cabin
and everyday utility. For most buyers, those attributes should be enough to overcome its
rather uninspiring driving dynamics. Pros
Premium cabin design and materials; plush ride; comfortable rear seating; generous standard
features. Cons
Expensive options packages; no third-row seat option; pointless F Sport package.
What's New for 2013 The Lexus RX 350 gets revised styling for
2013 that brings it in line with the brand's new design direction. The interior receives
a few design and functionality enhancements as well, while the standard equipment list
expands to include a power liftgate and iPod/USB audio interface. A new F Sport package gets
special styling cues, a sport-tuned suspension and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
2014 Infiniti Q50 Sedan
The new 2014 Infiniti Q50 is stylish and packs plenty of features and technology. But the
driving experience is disappointing as entry-level luxury sport sedans go.
Pros Many high-tech electronic and safety features;
nicely detailed interior; excellent fuel economy from available hybrid model; muscular V6 engine;
roomy trunk. Cons
No option to get a frugal four-cylinder engine; disappointing handling when pushed; ride quality
isn't as smooth as expected; hybrid version's odd steering and braking dynamics.
What's New for 2014 The 2014 Infiniti Q50 is an all-new model.
It essentially supersedes the G37 sedan, bringing with it new styling and new technology features.
(Infiniti will continue selling the G37, however). A hybrid-powered Q50 is also new.
