The first step for deep frying a turkey is to get a turkey, and there are so many choices
out there. The one thing to remember when you're deep frying a turkey is there is a
weight limit. You cannot deep fry a turkey larger than fifteen pounds. That's the largest
size that will fit inside the traditional deep fryer. So ten, twelve pound, fifteen
pound turkey is the way to go. The one thing that's really fantastic is that it only takes
three minutes per pound to deep fry a turkey. So a fifteen pound turkey is done in forty-five
minutes. Let me say that again because you probably can't believe I just said that. A
fifteen pound turkey is done in forty-five minutes. That's what's so fantastic. So if
you are having a large group of people, you can have two turkeys cooked in an hour and
a half. And they're going to be juicier than if you put that twenty-five pound turkey in
the oven for four hours. That's what's so amazing. So what turkeys are you wanting to
get. Well, you know there's fresh, there's frozen. This turkey bird that we have here
today, this is a fresh turkey. This has never been frozen. And I have to tell you, you know,
the frozen birds can be just as delicious. There's also kosher turkeys, which can be
as delicious, or even more delicious. They tend to be a little cleaner because blood
is not kosher, so they're very clean birds. You can use the basted, prebasted, all that
kind of stuff, adds, it doesn't really matter, as long as there's the weight limit. We'll
tell you some other, keep clicking, and we'll tell you some other things to prepare the
bird for the fryer, okay?
