Today's tutorial is about basics of and LFO,
Frist I will talk about what is an LFO.
Second I will show you what it does.
Third I will show you how it effects your sounds.
Now, and LFO is simple an acronym for Low Frequency Oscilator.
A Low Frequency oscilator can effect different paremeters on your
sythnesizer for a disired rate and amplitude for a desired time.
It's like having an extra set of fingers to turn a *** on your
systhesizer automatically.
For example, if I'm designing a sound in a synthesize and I want to
make sort of a wah wah, or wobbly sound, I would use an LFO to the
Filter of that synthesizer.
Here is the sound of me effecting the cut off filter
of this synthsiser.
*adjusts filter*
As you just heard, you heard the synth go from a bright sound
to a darker sound.
But heres what happens when I assign an LFO to the filter of a synth.
*Apply LFO to cut off oscilator*
Now , depending on the sythesizer there are many paremeters that you
can change on an lfo, but in this basic tutorial we going to go over
to parementers and thats speed, and depth.
The speed of an LFO effects how fast it's going to change
the setting of the filter.
The Amplitude, or depth, effects how much or how little it effects the filter.
Again, speed efffects how fast or how slow it oscilatrs or changes.
Amplitude , or depth effects how MUch or how little effect it has
on the filter.
Lets change the speed of the LFO. *change the speed of the LFO*
Now Lets Change the depth or amplitude of the LFO
*change the depth of LFO*
Notice the effect the LFO has on the original sound.
You can apply this to any syntheizer out there Experiment with your settings and see what
results you get.
