The new set that I'm most excited about is the Garrett Wade Household Electrician's Tool Kit
and I think the coolest part of the kit is this automatic wire stripper which I really love.
It can strip wire between 10 and 24 gauge which I think is a huge range.
and really, the most common stuff that I use
Yeah, my favorite part of this kit is the pair of screwdrivers
which have insulated handles like you would expect,
but the insulation for these go almost to the tip
and so there's that extra measure of protection for those
times when I start working on a circuit I forget to turn the breaker off on.
The tip is really well ground too. They fit into all those tiny fixture screws really nicely
so you can get a positive grip on them when you're tightening things down and the
scissors, these Electrician's Scissors, have a nice deep notch inside of them. The
whole point of that notch is to get a nice solid grip on wire, like this ratty one right here.
And it doesn't slip out as I squeeze down -- it makes a nice clean cut exactly
where I want it. The tip has some micro-serrations going down.
You won't see them but I can feel them when I do that. And sometimes you've got to cut
wires short deep inside of a box and you can reach in with just the tip and it holds it.
It will never slip off and cut just as well.
It's a nice compact set, and it's lightweight. And I can see how this would fit in with the
rest of the tools that I have to carry around with me.
Right. And you do a lot of contracting work. But for me, as a homeowner, I could really
see it in my kitchen drawer where, you know, there's tons of times I'm doing projects
-- changing fixtures, or outlets, and it's nice to have just one set that I can use for
all of that. I think people are really going to like these
tools. The Garrett Wade Household Electrician's
Tool Kit.
