Hello and welcome to Cupcake Addiction's Chocolate Fruit Cakepop Ball Recipe and Tutorial where
I'll be showing you how to make some fantastic chocolaty fruit cake cakepop Balls -- perfect
for Christmas or just for the fruitcake lover in your house.
I've got a pre-bought, just a store-bought dark fruitcake. You can use a light fruitcake.
You can also use this recipe for any leftover Christmas pudding or Christmas cakes that
[nun's] given you. That one there is about an 800-gram which is about 28 oz. but you
can use anything up to a kilo or 35 oz. for your fruitcake.
I've got 300 grams of dark chocolate which is the equivalent to 10.5 oz.
And I've got 150 ml. or 5 oz. of cream. Now I will just clarify for the Americans watching
this one. Cream for us in Australia is not the milk that you would add to coffee. It's
quite thick and you would whip it up and use it to put on scones or in a cake or something
like that. So you really want, not like a thin milky cream, I suppose you'd call it.
You want an actual proper whipping cream. Firstly, today we're going to take that lovely
dark chocolate and that cream and I'm just going to pour the cream over the chocolate.
That's going to go into the microwave for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, I'll take it out
and give it a quick stir, make sure that I'm happy that it's combined. Depending on the
strength of your microwave, you may need an extra minute. Let's pop that in the microwave.
Okay, so fresh from the microwave, we've got our combined melted dark chocolate and cream
mixture. So now I'm going to take that fruit cake and just break it in half. You just want
to crumble it in there so just grab little chunks of it and just crumble it in. This
is the fun part but also the messy part, really great for your kids to help you with. Crumble
it down as much as you can. You can also pop all of this in a food processor if you have
one and that's a bit quicker. If you love our tutorials, make sure that
you subscribe to our channel. We've got heaps of great cake pop decorating tutorials for
Christmas, for all the seasons. So if you want to put this fantastic mix to use, we've
certainly got all the tutorials you need to help you do that.
Alright, so we're just finishing crumbling that cake, making a little bit of a mess of
my work space. Now we want to take that cake and the spoon and we're just going to mix
it through. So it's just a case of mixing all that beautiful ganache through with that
delicious fruit cake. This will be a cakepop that even [nun] will enjoy or a great way
to use up [nun's] leftover fruit pudding. So you can see there, as the ganache goes
through, it's just becoming nice and thick and fudgy. And we're mixing that kind-of-traditional
fruit cake with our decadent dark chocolate to give a bit of a modern twist on an old
favorite. So you want to mix it through until...until you're almost not seeing any lighter colors
of browns. Everything should be roughly the color of that chocolate ganache.
Now from here, I normally like to put my mix in the fridge for probably 10, 15 minutes
just to firm it up a little bit before I start rolling my balls. But for the purposes of
this tutorial, I just want to show you the great consistency that we've got there. So
if you just take a spoonful, you can see how easy that is to just roll into a great cakepop
ball...ready for dipping and decorating in any one of our cakepop designs or any others
you might have, particularly good for our Christmas fruit pudding tutorial on channel
at the moment. Thanks very much for watching.
