We are at the city of "La Heróica", venue of the 54th edition of the Cartagena International
Film Festival, that will take place from the 13th to the 19th of March here in Cartagena.
With more than 260 screenings across the city throughout the week.
There will be 80 movies competing, and 13 movies that belong to the Official Selection and one of them
will take home the award for best picture at the closure of the festival.
There are 27 countries participating.
This year's guest of honor is Academy-Award® nominee CliveOwen,
leading man of movies like Closer, Alfonso Cuaron´s Children of Men and King Arthur.
The Festival will pay homage to his career and will be given a special award.
The second guest of honor is Mexican Filmmaker Alejandro Goná*** Iñárritu. Director of films like Amores Perros, 21 grams, Babel and Biutiful.
The festival will pay homage to his career and he will give a Master Class.
The third guest of honor is Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.
He came to Bogotá to give a workshop on short film to 55 young directors.
And will do a screening of the best five short films from the workshop in the Festival
His career will be honored and he will impart a Master Class.
In the case of the International Film Festival,
we want to be the platform of international promotion of Latinamerican cinema, and above all, Colombian cinema.
We want the festival to evolve such as our national filmmaking has been doing.
