Hi, I'm David from Telstra and today I'll be showing you how to change the wi-fi settings
on your Netgear Devg 2020 router and if you have taken up broadband backup, how to set
up your new service.
To skip to the next or previous chapter in this video, use the youtube buttons below.
If you simply want to turn the wi-fi on or off, you can do this by using the button on
the front of the router.
To change any other settings, you need to log in to the router management tool.
First, make sure your computer is connected to the router, either by Wi-Fi or using a
cable.
Look on the bottom of your router to find the Router Login details.
Then, using a web browser, type in the IP address from the Router Login details.
This will bring up the 'Netgear genie portal', where you can login with the username and
password from the Router Login details.
When the home screen opens, click on 'wireless' in the left hand menu.
This will bring you to the Wireless Settings page, where you can change the settings for
your Wi-Fi.
You can change the name of your Wi-Fi in the 'Name (SSID)' field.
To change the password, scroll down and type in the password you want in the 'Passphrase'
field.
Click 'Apply' at the top of the screen to complete the changes.
On the home screen, you should see your updated Wi-Fi name and password displayed under the
'Wireless' icon.
If you've taken up a Broadband Backup service, this will connect the router to the Telstra
mobile network if your ADSL service gets disconnected. To set it up, go to the home screen then click
on 'mobile internet' in the left hand menu.
The 'Mobile Setup' page is where you can configure all the settings for your Broadband Backup
service.
Click 'no' for 'does your internet connection require a login?'
Select 'telstra.extranet' for the APN
Select 'IP' for the PDP type
In the Dialling String field enter '*99***1#'.
Then click apply.
Plug your Broadband Backup USB into one of the USB ports on the router. The green USB
light will be on, and the lights on the USB modem will show as blue.
When your ADSL service is connected, the Internet status in your home screen will show as 'good',
and the mobile broadband will show as 'Disconnected'.
When your ADSL goes down and the Broadband Backup switches on, the Internet status in
your home screen will show as 'good', and the mobile broadband will show as 'Connected'.
Remember while your broadband backup service is switched on, you won't be able to make
outbound digital voice calls. If you have fax and eftpos services, they won't work.
Inbound calls made to your main business number will divert to the mobile number that you
have nominated. Inbound calls to other digital voice services on your account won't be diverted
unless you set this up yourself.
