Today an episode for the army, officers or military police.
ONE WORD
Good morning! Welcome in the next week, on Monday, in a new episode of ONE WORD.
Before the word itself, an introduction to it
because in order to understand it we need to see its context.
As you have probably noticed, we're in such a period in the Church,
which could be called post-ascension.
Yesterday, we had the Ascension and I need to say a word about it
to introduce the word for today.
I don't know if you realise how great the mystery of Ascension is,
the fact that Jesus returned home, if I can say so,
in human body, in human nature means that He is still a man there.
I don't know if you get it, for a long time I didn't think about it.
When we meet God one day, after we die,
we won't meet a spiritual, energy-based something,
God that is somewhat indeterminate,
but when we die, God will reach to us with His hands,
will look at us with His eyes, will smile to us and give us a hug.
It's incredible that He is still a man there.
Yesterday's solemnity was about it, I liked the collect you heard on the mass
that it is the celebration of the elevation of human nature.
As if with this feast, the Church wanted to tell us
that if He is with the body in Heaven, He says: "You all are fit to go there,
you don't need to become spiritual, (sure we need to develop spiritually),
but with your bodies, as you are now, you are fit for heaven."
And today's word is about it.
In Greek, today's word is "tasso",
which literally means "appoint", "nominate", "order".
A word that means that somebody has to do something.
There is some commander who says: "I appoint you an officer"
or commands: "You go to this position", "You shoot here".
This word appears in a speech by St. Paul, (do I remember well?)
well, it's in the Acts, and he says that we are destined to eternal life.
What does it mean? God says: "I call you all,
like a commander calls his soldiers and I appoint you citizens of Heaven."
This happened yesterday.
Ascension means Christ showing us: "I went with body to Heaven,
so your bodies, your human nature, with all its defects, are fit for Heaven."
and orders "Come here!"
I like that it's expressed with a military word,
that we are nominated, appointed (how to say it otherwise?)
established as adequate for the Kingdom.
I don't want us to do any spiritual work today,
but think that you, as you are, with your bodies, with your lives,
are destined to eternal life.
Christ looks at you as a man from Heaven and says: "Come here!
I ascended here with my body to show you
that you as humans are fit to be here."
For me, it's an amazing perspective, a perspective of "now",
of "come here now, man, as you are,
you don't need to become like an angel, but just come here."
This is our word. We are appointed, destined (that's how it's translated),
destined for eternal life.
Walk today in such a perspective:
you are called, like a soldier, to the Heavenly Kingdom.
"It made the gentiles very happy to hear this and they gave thanks
to the Lord for his message;
all who were destined for eternal life became believers." (Acts 13:48)
Mary also is in Heaven as a human as She was assumed, isn't she?
We will all be mans in Heaven, only She is there now.
Men.
Mans. We will be always mans in Heaven.
