Our new poll, please go onto www.DavidPakman.com. There's a lot happening on the website, including
new pictures from me at the Talkers New Media seminar over the weekend. The poll question
is did the New Hampshire debate... the Republican New Hampshire debate mean anything to the
2012 election this early on, or is it just too early to make a difference?
You can leave us voicemail at 219-2DAVIDP, you can also email us through our website,
www.DavidPakman.com. We talked on the last show about anti-gay nuts complaining that
now they're being bullied, and I said you're not being bullied, you're just bigots, so
why would anybody treat you politely? "How dare people be intolerant of my intolerance!"
I think that sums it up pretty well.
Louis: Right.
"I think it's because a lot of the more ardent anti-gay bigots have homosexual desires deep
down, so they still have this need to be accepted by the gay community even as they condemn
it."
And, "This is the exact same thing as when Christian fundamentalists claim that they
are victims of discrimination when people push back against their fundamentalism. It's
projection. It's not an actual defense of their indefensible viewpoints." Couldn't say
it better myself.
The Gabrielle Giffords pictures. You know, I said that I was disturbed and saddened by
the Gabrielle Giffords pictures which, while they were presented as being very, very positive,
it looks nothing like her old self. It's very clear that there's severe brain trauma still
in place, and we would only expect that. And I made the point why is there... or maybe
Natan made it... why is there this expectation, why do we all have to pretend like everything
looks so great and she's doing so well? She was shot in the head. A lot of emails on this.
First one: "All I can say is Mrs. Palin really should be hoping that Congresswoman Giffords
doesn't speak out against her crosshair map yet again." You know what? Maybe... I don't
think Palin really cares what anyone does at this point. She's making plenty of money
and she doesn't even have to run for president.
"She looks outstanding for someone with a traumatic brain injury. If you see before
pictures of Terry Schiavo, you get some sense of how horrified she would be to have her
after pictures be the famous ones." I know it. I remember.
And, "Sad? She looks incredible. Typical shallow response from a limp noodle like the one talking
in this video." Yeah, they're talking about me. I disagree with you. I find the entire
thing incredibly sad, I find it... what isn't sad about Jared Lee Loughner going on this
shooting rampage and Gabrielle Giffords's life being changed forever?
We don't know exactly how she will recover. Everything about her and everything about
her life is completely altered. If that's not sad, then I don't know what is. And I
get where this audience member is coming from, but I just... I just don't agree. I found
it incredibly sad.
And the definition of Santorum, Rick Santorum's Google problem that he's having: "Actually,
there was Santorum on my bedsheets just last weekend. No lie." All right. Louis... you
can tell Louis selects the emails that we read.
On the bonus show, Chicago expands its Big Brother camera network, physicians are leaving
private practices in droves, we'll talk about why, we'll talk about my $420 urology visit,
and maybe we'll hear from Louis about some of his visits too, and suicide kits in Oregon,
a lot of new rulings on suicide kits in Oregon, which is kind of known for permissive assisted
suicide legislation, along with Washington State. A lot's happening on that bonus show,
Louis.
Louis: The bonus show is the best thing ever.
David: It basically is. And of course, www.DavidPakman.com/membership. You'll enter with 10 entries to win this iPad,
which we're giving away the last day of June. Thanks for listening, we'll see you on the
