The simplest way to introduce a technique is to use a demonstration, detail it and then drill the technique
The easiest way to drill martial arts techniques if in traditional lines, so you will see lines of students
spaced out so they are far enough away from each other and then go through repetitions.
Here we see two lines of children one facing the other. The purpose of this exercise is to get the children listening
as much as they are doing techniques. If you say "A", line A does the technique. If you say "B", line B does the technique.
If you say "C", everybody does the technique.
On this next exercise we have created a circle of children, then we pick, 2, 3, 4 volunteers to make another circle
in the middle. When they hear the command "go", they do their technique, and the kids on the outside circle
have to respond and react as quickly as possible
The coaching element involves splitting the class into smaller groups where they can perform a technique
one on one with an instructor or a teacher, you can really start to engage and have a lot of fun.
Martial arts aren't about being the best in the class. It's about being your best.
It's about improving every time and a lot about having fun. So when someone steps up and volunteers
its about them being their best not the best
