We're here because it's the right thing to do.
There is so much need, and even a simple meal
sometimes is worth millions.
If you look at what's happened in America, how many people are out of work,
this is a really important thing to do.
Today we're celebrating the 2nd Annual Give Back Day for Allstate.
It's just a day where we're able to help families who need us.
There are Allstaters all over the country today involved in one activity or another,
from food drives, food pantries like this, to the museum downtown to clothing drives.
We wanted to volunteer here at the DuSable Museum to help the children
make peace doves to represent the peace that Martin Luther King represented in his life.
This is going to an organization called Wings. It's a nonprofit that
provides assistance to women and children who have gone through domestic violence situations.
We're working on several arts and crafts projects
to benefit children and the homebound elderly.
For the flip-flops, it's actually to benefit children and women in Rwanda
who have either *** or AIDS and don't have footwear.
It's just how everybody chips in together and works together as a team.
Hopefully this kind of thing spreads.
That's what this charitable giving is all about.
There are so many people that maybe
can't even buy their own food or things like that.
And so hopefully that is really making people think about it
in their hearts and wanting to do more.
We help feed over 50,000 people each week.
For the Allstate group to come in today
and process all of that food just means that
we're going to be able to get it onto people's tables that much faster.
The enthusiasm and the commitment to give something back to others, it's exciting.
It's not just today. 365 days a year,
there are Allstaters involved in community events across the country.
When you can go out and help people in the community,
not only does it make you feel good, but you learn things,
you learn other perspectives.
