Well I would like to think it was love at first sight.
But it wasn't No?
I took a bit of convincing actually. Well it's lucky I'm so charming.
Not as charming as he thinks he is. We met when I was on leave from the army,
and love at first sight. I never believed in it until it happened to me.
We were in a bar. Everyone was dancing. He just walked straight up to me without any
hesitation, what so ever took me in his arms and started
to dance. The next morning, I told her I had to go back
with the army, my leave was over and then I asked her if she would spend the rest of
the week with me until I left.
What woman could resist that? It wasn't just me that needed some convincing
though. Oh god no, your parents were a nightmare.
Oh can I just stress, I said were, and obviously they are wonderful people and I know that
they were just looking out for their daughter.
Yes they were a pain. There were several times when Matt was given a grilling. Especially
when we told my Dad we were getting married. I think Sarah's parents were especially concerned
about me being able to support Sarah, as well as my children from the previous marriage.
There was a tense period, when we thought our parents wouldn't get on actually.
Yeah, my parents were furious for a while, they kept going on about me being more than
capable in managing my finances. But in some ways their arguing actually made
us stronger.. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was us against them.
Especially before the wedding Oh God, yeah, but you know, I have to be honest
and say that we did come close to breaking point then too.
When he left, part of me wanted to forget him, but the other half wanted to fight for
him. You know I kept turning over ways in my head to make it work.
I'd fantasise about him getting a job here in an office or how I could travel around
with him. Anything! I only had one plan, it was simple for me,
propose! Yeah it's true, because as soon as he got
back, he did propose and I said no. Yes I remember that, it hurt.
The reason I said no was because I wanted us to make sure that we knew, you know, that
we could discuss all the problems that we were going to face
being apart. You knew I was going to say yes eventually.
But I had one problem, it was thinking about whether or not she was thinking about going
to run off with another guy.
