the phone is a quick when a weather briefing to go over the upcoming winter
storm expected a
impact parts of northwest Kansas eastern Colorado and southwest Nebraska
starting tonight and continuing through Tuesday afternoon
here's the latest map
showing now expected storm total snow accumulations
across the area and as you can see the highest amounts are expected across the
southwest portion of our forecast area this includes Cheyenne County Colorado
Wells County Kansas and Greeley and Wichita counties in Kansas
this is where we do have a winter storm warning in effect
across the Rust the area we have a winter weather advisory
I'm as you can see amounts are generally going to range from three to five inches
across the advised area
and six up to possibly 8 enters
across the the warned area this map displays the
latest thoughts on now the timing start times for a snowfall
not necessarily the heaviest snowfall I just start
start time for accumulating snow as you can see in the southwest we expect snow
to start later this
evening I'm close to midnight I
and further north and east you go the
longer I'll take for the snow to overspread the area
the i-70 corridor looks like snow will start in the
midnight to 3am time frame but the
moderate to heavy snow probably won't reach
the i-70 corridor Intel probably
sunrise to the middle of %uh Tuesday morning
I'm northern locations as you can see probably won't see snow startin' te la
after sunrise in addition to heavy snow we are anticipating blowing snow to
develop during the day Tuesday
is wins increase around mid-morning on Tuesday
with the strongest winds and low Spurs abilities during the afternoon
this graphic is meant to show you where they are
are greatest concern is for blowing snow as you can see in
Eastern locations whens will be a little bit stronger as a result
blowing snow will a coverage will be a little bit greater
I further west we are still expecting blowing snow
however Owens will be a little bit lighter so it may not be quite as
widespread
I disabilities right now are below one mile with blowing snow
are expected and in fact we could see visibilities drop to one quarter mile
or less it some locations
