Assalaamu Alaikum and welcome to Titli's Busy Kitchen with me Titli Nihaan.
If you need bread in a hurry and the shops are shut,
there's only one real solution:
make Soda Bread!
For my soda bread, I've got a 150 g of plain while flour.
A 150 g of wholemeal flour.
250 ml of buttermilk
or you can use a 50/50 mixture of
yoghurt and ordinary milk.
1 teaspoon of salt
and 2 teaspoons of bicarbonated soda.
Put all the dry ingredients in a bowl
and mix them well together.
and mix them well together.
Add in the buttermilk
and quickly mix all this together.
And just quickly mix it enough
to bring it together
a bit fairy sticky dough.
Pop the dough onto a floured surface
and just kind of pull it together
for no more than a minute
because the bicarbonate of soda
is already reacting with the buttermilk.
Once you've brought the dough together into a nice soft ball,
pop it onto a baking tray
and spread it out a bit until it's about an inch thick,
them make a fairy deep cross in the bread,
that let's the fairies out.
We'll bake this at a 180 degrees Celsius for about 30 minutes.
After about 30 minutes, it will be nicely baked.
So we'll just leave it to cool.
Delicious, warm, crusty soda bread.
It's awesome with soup!
It's also pretty awesome with just butter on it!
You know, this bread was invented for smell-o-vision.
Just a pity that smell-o-vision hasn't been invented yet.
Join me next time in Titli's Busy Kitchen with me Titli Nihaan.
Until next time...
Until next time... Khuda hafiz
