I want to talk about a couple of other questions that I know people have all the time about
Social Security. We've got a lot of retirees who are planning to work. Can you work and
receive Social Security?
>> Yes, but. So you can work and get Social Security but there's something called the
earnings test, and there's essentially a reduction. If you work part time where Social Security
is basically held back. So one dollar for every two dollars that you earn over‑‑
it's a little bit over 15,000 is taken out of your Social Security. And most people focus
on, hey, this stinks. I'm getting a reduction in my Social Security. What most people don't
realize is that reduction is then added back at your full retirement age. So I think that
the take‑away, Jean, is be aware that if you work, you're going to have money taken
out of Social Security. So you're not going to get as much as you think you're going to
get but don't despair. It basically is added back and amortized at your full retirement
age.
>> So you will eventually get those dollars?
>> Yes.
>> All of them?
>> All of them.
>> All right. That's good to know.
