>> The school's university is like UMass and Dartmouth, I think have a very important role
to play in the future of renewable energy.
We're in a period where of transition from the old paradigm of coil of fossil fuels
to a completely new paradigm of renewable energy, solar and wind technology primarily.
And it's going to be quite a project to undertake that transition.
There's a lot that people need to know or there's a lot
of technology to be developed, first of all.
And in addition there's a lot that ordinary people need to know as part of this transition.

My major focus these days is in offshore wind energy which is
in the U.S. is still in its infancy.
In Europe there's a lot going on and Asia now too as well.
And so that's a real challenge and the designers are able to take advantage of what they learned
on land, obviously land's a lot easier in some ways.
But the next generation, at least of these turbines are going to be offshore
and there's a lot -- still a lot to be learned in that.
But I think that the potential is really enormous because there's a lot of area
where you can install these turbines.
There's a whole new frontier is about ready to open up.
Hopefully in the U.S. as well as Europe.
