Hey this is Jerimae Yoder with Expert Village I'm talking about performing solo. Today I'm
going to talk a little bit about being creative in what you do going beyond the verse chorus,
tag end, mix it up a little bit do a melody once in a while where you start into one song
and you break into another song out of the blue. That has that same corp progression
or close to the same corp progression and then go back to the old song that you started
with. That really seems to draw people in and it's a little bit more creative be smart
about how you do it, don't try to put Bohemian rhapsody and Johnny Cash "Hurt Together" it's
not going to work. So make sure that you chosen the right song that you put together, listen
to other people and see how there doing songs like that. Have some stories to tell make
sure that you're thinking through what you're going to say between songs, maybe do four
songs in a row but then you stop and get something to drink. Make sure you have something to
say at those moments in time, make sure you have something that you can relate to people
with. Of what's going on in your life just having a good time just talking about who
you are and stuff like that, it's really cool and people can connect with you like that
way. Try to move around a little bit on stage if you can I know it's a little bit hard as
an acoustic artist to kind of move around but what I do is sometimes I like to put a
wall pedal on the other side of the stage just require some extra long quarter inch
plugs. I can go over and people will know when I go over to that side of the stage "aw
he's going to go to his wall pedal he's going to do some funkie things over there", that's
just to get myself moving around and people like that. People like to have that interaction
when you're doing some things, remember when your on stage when you think you're being
big you're probably not being big. Everything needs to be more theatrical and more over
the top when your on the stage.
