Now we're going to paint the base color on our table top puppet theater. I'm going to
lay down an opened up plastic bag, a big garbage bag on the table for easy clean up. And we're
going to paint our sanded boards for our puppet theater. I'm using a white acrylic water-based
paint. I suggest that you use white for your base paint because much of the decorating
is, it just comes out better with the white; o.k. A nice light color underneath. Now you
can use other colors also but keep in mind for your decorating that you, the color; the
base color may show threw; and so white is really a better color. O.k., we want to paint
all side of our theater board; need the sides, the front; the back and all around the frame.
So it's handy to have a can from your cupboard to lean your project against, so that you
can have more; the most amount of sides exposed to the air. And you can paint the complete
item in one shot instead of painting one side and then having to waiting for one side to
dry before you paint the other side. O.k., if this color is your final color and you're
not going to be putting any other decoration over it; then you want to put two coats of
paint on to get a good solid color. But if you're going to be decorating over this base
paint, then you'll only need one coat of paint over the whole item. Now all of our boards
are painted now. We want to let that dry over night before we start our decorating.
