Hi guys this is going to be the tutorial that shows you how to make one of these puff flower hearts
and if you've ever made one of my puff flower scarves, the flowers are made just the same
and they are connected the same, they're just connected to different places
I'll be showing you how to make the flower and how to connect
but you'll need is a four point five millimeter hook or size H hook
worst weight yarn
four ply for the US and
ten ply for Australia
and also a tapestry needle
to sew in your ends
that's the puff side, and this is the other
i'm making this as a summer
project for myself
To have some kind of crochet decoration on the wall
as a center piece for my pictures
so to make the flower
all you do
is make a slipknot
and chain four
then you want to
go into that first chain that you did
and slip stitch to form a ring
and chain one
now in the center ring here
you want to put tweleve single crochets
Counting...
eleven
and
twelve
now you want to slip stitch in the beginning stitch
now for round two
you want to chain three
we're going to be working
our puff stitches
over two stitches
so we're going to go into that first stitch, the same stitch your just slip stitched into
pull up a loop
yarn over and go back into the same stitch for a second time
pull up a loop
yarn over and go back into the same stitch for a third time
and repeat this for the following stitch as well, do it three times
go in the stitch, pull up a loop and yarn over three times into the same stitch
and then pull through all your lips
i believe there should be
thirteen loops in total
and after you've pulled through all thirteen loops
chain three
then slip stitch
into the same stitch
then slip stitch into the next stitch
then you'l start you're next petal
which is
chain three
then you start your first part of the puff stitch here
and then you finish the second part here
so that's one
two
three into one stitch
one
two
three in the second
pull through all thirteen loops
chian three
then again you want to slip stitch
in the same stitch where you did the second part of your puff stitch
and then you want to slip stitch into the next
stitch which will bring you
to your next petal
and repeat
I'll do this one in slow motion for you
that's it
just continue
doing the rest of your petals
you will have six petals total
finishing up my last petal here
slip stitching
and into my next stitch as well
and chain one
and leaving yourself a bit of tail
to be worked in later
cut your yarn
that is your first flower, see the puff stitch on one side and the other side has
a nice
chain border around it
it's up to you which way you want to hang it or use it for
so the first one is a complete
then we will start connecting our next puff flowers to it
so make your next
by chainging fourn and slip stitch and connecting to beginning
for form a ring
then single crochet twelve
and then when you get to your
second puff petal
i'll show you how to connect
one flower to another
okay
simple to the first
connection
you will always be doing your connections the same way
you get to the point where
you've got your puff stitch done
in you've pulled your
your yarn through it
and before you do your chaining
you want to get the other flower
and you can see that there is a
section here between the two chains
this is the chian where you went upl and this is a chain you went down
and this is where you chained to close your puff stitch
we're going to be
going into that top puff stitch
and coming out of the chain three space
connection you see here
and then you just want to
pull through
and the will connect the flowers together
then chain three
then finish your puff stitch
slip stitch into the same stitch
slip stitch into the next
make your next petal
counting...
pull through all the loops
always helps to lay it flat
find where the next connection should be, which is here
it's gonna help much
later when your project is bigger
again find that little hole at the top of your puff stitch
and this is the chain
then you just want to slip stitch
chain three
then finish a pedal
by slip stitching
in to that same place where we did our
second part of our puff stitch
slip stitch to the next stitch
and finish the
rest of your petals cuz you won't have any more
to connect this round
i always trying to start my connections with my second petal
because later on you may have many connections
that we make sure that we have enough connections
with your petals and then when you've got all the connections you need
do the rest of your petals that you don't need to connect
so finish your petals and cut your yarn leaving some tail to be worked in
and start on your next flower up to the second petal and i'll show you how to make the next connections
okay i'm on my second petal
now i'm going to be making a connection
we want to make connection using three petals
this one
connection that's in between the two petals
and then
and then this last petal
at the bottom here
so we wwant to go in our first bottom petal
through the first connection that we need to make 'cause we're going to be
working from right to left
go in to that same space
slip stitch to make the connection
and chain three
then make your next petal
now when making a connection where you have two flowers connectioned already
you want to always favor the left petal
of the flower
and i'll go in
through the same place
where there is already a connection
it's just like if i had no connection there already, i would go in through this stitch
to make my connection, i'm doing the same thing here
you can see that theres a connection in this one already
this flower was
actually connected to this one
not the other way around
so this one i'm going to go in through
the same space like I normally would
to connect any flower
so remeber when your making a connection
two a flower that's already connected once already,
favor the one on the left
and go into
that one like you would to make a normal connection
complete your petal
you can see
this one's connected to this one and this one is connected to this one
so lets finish our thrid
petal and our third connection
and you will always be facing the back to make your connections
and you will always fold your flower back when making a connection
so you can work with it
the next connection will be on the top here
because if you lay your project flat
you can see nautrally that
connecting here would make
a good connection
it's not going to pull or warp it
most of your connections
once you get it going, will be
three or more
petals connected
like i said you could always start from your second petal and start your connections
you're always going to be sure you have enough petals to make all your connections
just going to finish off my flower here
I have one last petal to make
one
two three
one
two
three
chain three
now to hide your tails
this is a small area
but later when your project gets bigger, you're gonna have
they will get in your way
so let me show you how I hide
my tails
thread a tapestry needle
go through
connections
underneath the petal if I can
you don't want to go so easily through the petal
try to catch the single crochets along the border
you want to go under five to six petals so it doesn't easily come out
cut your tail and that's one
it's not so bad
hiding the tails, you get used to it
it's fast
and you can turn your work
like this
and you can get three petals at the same time
and the last petal I like to come up
through the puff stitch itself
just because i want to tail to remain in the back
then cut it down like this
the tail
is hidden so well that you can still use either side of the project
I'll put up a picture
because it's so big and i'm so close to the camera you
can't really see
From the largest row to the tip
are eight rows
and you have the largest row with
eight flowers, then the next rows down you have seven, then six, five..etc
and you only have two rows that make up the top of the heart
so it's basically a triangle
and then you'll skip the center one here
which is between
three flowers on either side
so skip over and start connectiong here
in that
then do three flowers
then do two flowers connected above them
in the connected spaces, i'm talking about
like i just showed you, wher you have connections here
your just filling in the spaces diagonally
so you'll do three on this side and the other side, and two at the top
and that's it, you'll be doing your connects the same way
every so often you may have
more connections, I worked going into a circle
I'll show you a picture of that
I just try to follow it around
using three connections
until it got to about here
and then i stopped because you don't want to go further past where you need
so i did that and then i started making sure that
i did it in a triangle, only doing ones on the outside to the point that i wanted
but it's up to you how you want to do it
you could do your eight flowers here and connect them
then work down to the next row and connect them
working row by row
whatever is easier for you
Just keep in mind that will will be making four connections
to the flowers beside and above it
here
here
here and
here
it helps to lay it flat
to help find the next connection if your not sure
and i'll have this on my site
where you can see it the pictures
and you can see all the places where you will need to make a connection
and that's it, I hope it turns out beautiful for you and
that this tutorial was easy to follow
