I actually have had a number people come to me looking for different ways to
treat depression, and what I tell them is...
...from my experience, and I know it's different with everyone, but from the
majority of the people that I've treated,
what they really need to focus on from the beginning is self-love.
If you don't have that self-love, then of course not going to be a happy
person. And, you know, it's very hard for a lot of people to get into the state of
mind where they really can
appreciate themselves for who they are and can really love themselves.
And, love themselves unconditionally.
You know? Things like guilt, shame, fear
come up when we talk about self-love. And it's
really about helping people work through that. So one thing that I often recommend
people do is
to take a Rose Quartz bath. Just, sort of, have some
time alone by yourself, place a few tumbled Rose Quartz
stones in your bathtub, with maybe a little bit of lavender essential oil.
And, really just take some time for yourself.
It's a very difficult thing for many of us to do, especially in our, sort of,
modern, "go-go-go" society. We don't take enough time for ourselves. And, when we start to
abuse and neglect ourselves, we become run down, and exhausted, and
eventually depression can, sort of, set in. So, I really do think that
the first first easy step for most people
is to simply take a Rose Quartz bath. Make sure that you're using
smooth, tumbled stones. You don't want to use rough stones and
sit on your Rose Quartz or it's not going to be too nice. But, instead use some nice
small, smooth tumbled stones that you place in your bath water.
And, what what does is...the water acts as a conduit
to release the energy from the Rose Quartz crystals.
And, the energy of Rose Quartz is a lot about
self-love, so that energy gets transmitted through the water.
The water conducts the energy and you fully absorb it into your entire body.
And, it really does help you get into the state of mind where you can start to
really think about
how you're going to show yourself more self-love.
So, that's the first step I would recommend.
The thing that I will say, as a, sort of, caution for people who are going to be using stones
in their bath water...
Some stones will melt, and you might lose your beloved Selenite...
...or Angelite. Also you have to be aware that
certain stones are toxic. So, you really want to be cautious
in which stones you choose. But, a general
rule is that anything in the Quartz family... so Clear Quartz,
Smoky Quartz Rose Quartz, Amethyst,
or Citrine...are all totally safe. And, honestly, with those five
stones, you can get a lot of different uses out of them.
So, by sticking with those, sort of, five stones in the Quartz family,
you're really going to play it very safe. You don't really have anything to worry about any
with them. And, you get a lot of benefits.
Especially if you're a beginner, you're first starting out, or you're just not
sure what the different chemical makeups are of
the stones, that would be a safe way to incorporate crystals into your bath.
I would also suggest people choose a meditation
stone and practice very short meditations.
This doesn't have to be an hour-long meditation or a whole weekend retreat.
This can be five or ten minutes a night. And, you choose a stone that
really speaks to you. It could be Rose Quartz for this as well.
It could be Rhodonite, Rhodochrosite, Clear Quartz, Selenite...
...whatever you feel drawn to, because that's what's going to work for you.
You may even want to choose a heart-shaped stone because
it might remind you of your purpose. And, just sit with that
stone and just really focus on all the positives
about yourself...What makes you special?...What makes you unique?...
...What is there to love about you? And, again, going back to that root of self-love.
I think it's definitely something we can all start with. Now, if you've tried a few of
those techniques
and they're not really working out for you...You know, I would, of course,
always speak with
a counselor or therapist and talking to someone like that because when we use
things like crystals
they really are complementary medicine. And I mean that in every
sense of the word. They are a complement to Western, allopathic treatments.
So, you know, I would always talk about these things
with your counselor or therapist. But, you know, to really dive into the root of your
depression and find out what's going on, \
then you're better able to collect stones that are more tailored to that purpose.
You can really more hone in on a specific crystal that will work with
your energy,
and then, I would suggest having that crystal with you as, sort of, a security blanket in a
way.
Have it on your person in a piece of jewelry or carry tumbled stone in
your pocket.
Place one in your pillow case - you'll absorb the energy while you're in your
subconscious state while you're asleep. I mean, these are all different ways we can really
work to bring that energy into ourselves.
