What’s the Deal With All of These Low Priced Bankruptcies That I See?
>> Well, a lot of the ads that you see for ridiculously low-priced bankruptcy cases uh,
will say we will start your case for x amount. And they they don’t really promise anything.
And of course, like anything, if something sounds too good to be true it usually is.
And you gotta read the fine print. Ah, I might do a bankruptcy for a few hundred dollars
for someone who has just a painfully simple case but, that doesn’t mean that I should
promise the business owner who comes in who’s got a list of 300 creditors and, you know,
3 million dollars in debt, I’m not going to promise the same thing to him. So, there
are some attorneys who, ah, outsource work to, ah, basically data processors in other
countries, get those files back. My thinking about that is that bankruptcy is not simple
arithmetic. It’s not simply a matter of filing blanks on a form. There’s legal analysis
that’s applied to virtually every step of the process. I mean, sure, anyone can fill
in your name and your social security number and your address on the petition but, you
know, almost everything beyond that requires some real professional knowledge.
