By myself, I have traveled over 6,183 miles so far.
From Seattle to Seoul, Korea...
...from Seoul, Korea to Tokyo, Japan.
Together with my friend, I visited many areas of Tokyo, such as...
After three days in Tokyo, my journey continued.
I traveled from Tokyo to Nagoya via Shinkansen.
Today, I will give you a tour of my room in Nagoya University of Foreign Studies'
sponsored apartment complex, Proxy Friends Nisshin.
This is a place to store your shoes. You don't walk with your shoes on inside.
This is my kitchen. There's a stove, and a sink...
..as well as a small refrigerator below the stove.
Like a dorm mini-fridge, in reality.
This looks like some sort of air conditioning compartment...
...and a place to store garbage.
There's also a room specifically for showering.
You can also take a bath in here. And there's the light...
In Japan, the toilet is separate from the place where you bathe and shower (typically).
It also seems that they gave me free toilet paper.
This is my room, and here's the closet.
There are hangers already inside.
Ok, I'll close it now.
The room itself is bigger than I expected.
There's my luggage, I haven't unpacked yet.
And here's the microwave.
And a telephone... I'm not sure if that's just local...?
And a storage area, a drawer... with information on how to use the microwave
it seems...and, oh, that's the microwave one.
That is for the tea heater/water heater, which is below.
And more storage.
And even more storage with garbage bags.
Instruction manuals.
And luckily, I have internet! It's a modem, and it's ethernet.
And I have a television, I haven't hooked it up yet at this point.
It looks really nice, you can even put SD cards in it, and my computer will hook up
to it because it has HDMI.
There's the desk.. the desk is nice.
And... I've got an air conditioner. The remote is hiding behind the curtain.
I'm going to go look outside on my balcony.
I have a view of a Nissan dealership, but if you look out a little bit further...
...you can see the whole street. This is also a good place to hang laundry.
This is what my apartment looked like after I went shopping and did some
unpacking of my suitcase. I got a frying pan for about $2 (290円),
and they gave me that pan. I went to the grocery store and picked up
a few things. Of course, I forgot that I don't have
utensils right now, so it will be very interesting to cook.
And this is about the same. I put my towel there.
And I bought toilet paper, and I put my other towel there (handtowel).
My closet is a bit more full now...
I put my jeans on the top (shelf), jeans and skirts up there...
and the rest is hanging.
And this is my room, I moved around the desk a
little bit, because all the outlets were on the other side, so it didn't really make
sense to leave it the way it was.
This is an organizer I bought in Tokyo.
I was watching a television show about specialty foods in Japan.
And let's take a look out at the balcony. I hung my laundry, and I went down to
the basement (lobby floor, I mean) earlier to do my laundry. They do have a dryer,
but it's 200円 and I ran out of 100円 coins and it doesn't take other change...
Even though it's dark, you can see many of the local stores from the balcony.
I decided to test out the grill this morning and make myself some shrimp pilaf, and
it turned out well.
