Hello! My name is Grady Johnson and I'm a professional painter. And today I represent
expertvillage.com. Now we're going to paint the eaves on the house. Now, whenever you're
painting the exterior eaves on your house, wait until you've got all the prep work done
and be sure you dust every thing off. Now, if you run across something that built up,
believe me, these spiders are going to make a new web. Even in a day's time, it will come
back on you. So always keep a rag handy and a duster in case you come across something.
Remember, paint the interior part first and then bring up the fascia. You can bring the
fascia if you're really, really fast. But I wouldn't recommend it. Most of the time
it's better to just go ahead and paint these interiors all the way down. Bring it all the
way down and then bring up the fascia when you're done. Now, the first thing we want
to do is we want to try and get this top part. So you want to cut that all the way around
on the top first. Now, we want to get the seams. So you just want to work your paint
that way. And, work with the grain of the wood back and forth, see. Just even that out
and you're going to bring that on down like that and bring down these sides as well. You
see, we've got some ants here. That's just part of it. You're going to find that there's
all kinds of bugs that live in your house you're not aware of and you'll have to work
around them. Now, you want to try and stop them as much as you can. But when you run
across them, if you can't get around them, just paint them and move them out of your
way. That's what you have to do. All right. Now we'll just bring it on down this way.
So we're going to bring that on down and lap it on out. Now remember, when we're going
on the wall, see it's making a mark and we're taking them out with the brush. That's how
you lap, take out those, the seams and even it out. It probably won't cover in one, but
we want to try the best we can to cover it in the first coat. Even if you know you're
putting a second coat on, try and cover it with the first coat and it's going to make
that second coat a lot better. Well, there's still a lot of work to do here, but these
are a few tips to remember when you're painting the exterior eaves of your house.
