To be honest, I'm pretty rooted today. That was the first moment in the Giro where
I was really in a bit of trouble, thought it might have been
could have been all over for me. I still feel pretty rooted, but I think everybody does!
I'm tired for three, four days. I'm pretty tired, really tired but everyone
else is as well, so
I was expecting
yesterday I wouldn't even be able to get out of bed.
I was never gonna give up. I would have ridden
even if it meant riding on my own all the
way to the finish.
I want to do something. I want to
get up the road
have a go at a break or just do something. I've been so bad, that
I don't know, I just need to do something good.
A hundred times better today than I've been, so if I can keep doing that I'll be alright
To be honest, winning a stage has kind of made it harder because
to finish it I feel like I've achieved a lot from the race
to win a stage
is the next level up, so suddenly, finishing seems
slightly less
of a significance as to winning a stage
so if anything it's made it tougher on the head
but I'm still fighting every day. Harder on my head than it is my body at the moment
but come the middle of next week it might be very different story.
Just got to man up and get on with it really.
Throughout the stage I did perfect work for the team
In Italy, nothing until the final stage in the sprint
but when Cav leads the race I think "OK, we can
try", and
the guys make perfect work for me but
in the final I didn't have the legs, and only fifth to the
finish line.
Today's going to be really hard. Cold and wet and snow
so I'm rugged up like the Michelin man!
I got...
Me and a couple of others got tailed off quite early on
after the rest day they just went straight out of the blocks, flat out, and
straight uphill as well which isn't really my forte.
Me and a good friend of mine, Jesse Sergent, were out the back
just time-trialling it.
If it all ends now then
at least I know what to expect for the next Grand Tour.
This is the first mountain time trial I've ever done so I'm going to...
some guys are just going to take it easy. I'm not,
I'm going to go flat out. I know it's a gamble, but
I figured I've got nothing to lose in this one so
I'll just give it my all and see what happens.
When I was in Napoli
I kind of dreamed of
sitting on the front and ripping it through the mountains, all that kind of thing, but
there's plenty more chances, and everyone says the first one
for most people it goes pretty pear-shaped, so I learned a lot.
