Hi. John, here. What we're going to do is we're going to install the Edge
Evolution CTS Performance Chip into this 2012 F150. We have the cable which
connects to the head unit and the diagnostic link connector on the truck.
We have the head unit, which is our control unit. We have a USB cable which
connects to our computer for updates. We have the glass mount for mounting
our head unit into our truck. Then of course, our instruction booklet.
Our first step to installing this performance chip is to go ahead and find
the location of the diagnostic link connector where we'll plug this into,
and to go ahead and route this cable. In order to do that, we'll have to
pull this panel off of here, so I'm going to go ahead and do that now. Now
that we have the cover off, we'll go ahead and plug this into our
diagnostic link connector, and then we'll go ahead and start running our
cable. The next step is to go ahead and get our controller unit setup and
the windshield mount on. What we're going to do is we're going to go ahead
and pre-fit this so we can find a good location to mount this up so that
it's as far out of your line of vision as we can make it with it still
being visible enough for you to be able to control and use the unit.
Now that we've got a spot located for it, we'll go ahead and take our
alcohol prep pad and clean the inside of that window. Once we find a
location where we want this, we'll go ahead and push in snug on it then we
flip the suction cup lever up, locking it in place. The next step is to go
ahead and plug in our control unit, and we're all set. As you can see, the
unit's starting to power up to let us know that it's working. We're going
to go ahead and install the unit into the mount, and then we'll show you
how to program this.
This is our settings. We're going to go ahead and program this one for Ford
because that's what we've got here. We're going to go in here to the main
menu. As you can see, there's several different options in the main menu:
We have programming, we have diagnostics, maintenance manager, options, and
there's also a help file in case you get into an area which you're not sure
what to do with. We're going to go into Programming. We'll go to
Programming, and we can either tap Programming or we could hit Enter,
either one.
What we're going to do is we're going to take a look here. We have several
different settings available: Level 1 being economy, 2: Towing, 3: Race,
and back to stock. That's give us our coolant temperature, our RPMs,
mileage, battery voltage, and our vehicle's boost. We can get different
backgrounds on here if we'd like. For this particular truck, I think we're
just going to stick with some fire.
Now that we've got our programming module all setup the way we want it and
we've got this truck programmed for what we want it to be programmed for,
we're going to go ahead and tuck away this cord, get it nice and neat, and
out of the way here so that we're not tripping over it getting in and out
of the car. That completes the installation of our Edge Evolution CTS
Performance Chip.
