You can only hear Jew's harp on this CD.
(Szilágyi Áron: ONLY JEW'S HARP)
Only the clear sound of the Jew's harp.
I've used roughly 35-40 Jew's harps during the recording.
All of them made by my father, Zoltán Szilágyi.
There are many of them that he especially made only for this CD recording.
Archeo type, but a special version of it. I don't know if it has a special name, but its sound is just beautiful.
I've also use older instruments too. This Daisy Cutter was already played on my first CD.
It's a bit old, rusty and worn out piece but it still sounds perfect.
If you can call the sound of a Daisy Cutter "perfect" since its sound is just very far from musicality.
Hi, I'm Barnabás Szilágyi and we are here in the Namaste Productions studio and we are recording Áron Szilágyi's new album.
Let me describe how we are doing it: Áron has notes, we discussed his ideas about each song,
we tried these ideas at different speeds. Usually he has chosen brutally fast tempos.
After the recording session and cutting out all the laughters, coughing, dog barking and weird noises
...actually this could also fill a separate album...
we have set up the structured draft of the songs.
Let's have a look at structure of a sketched song.
This is the work-titled "Third fast" song.
This music has seven tracks, maybe at the end only three will remain.
First there's a main theme part. This is how it sounds.
I told you, that it's crazy fast.
Next track is the same theme with a high Jew's harp...
...and the whole thing has just missed some deep strength, so we have added off-beat with this Jew's harp.
Of course, its sound had to be equalized so that it really sounds powerful.
Now it roughly sounds like this together - flat and dry.
So, we have this version now and we started think what would sound good that adds a dynamics to the sound.
We tried how it sounds with a kick drum, I mean kick Jew's harp.
So, the whole music has become a bit more dynamic.
My brother has been living here in New York for five years where he has founded a studio, the Namaste Productions.
He really feels what I think when I play the Jew's harp, what sounds I imagine, what soundscapes I desire.
He exactly knows and understands this and fortunately he can also realize these ideas acoustically.
In a song you can hear multiple Jew's harps playing. All of these sounds are played by me except one song.
This song is very unique, as I played a duet with my brother, Barni at the Third Hungarian Jew's harp festival four years ago
where we improvised this song. We decided that we would show this song in perfect quality on this album.
