NMI is the trade association for microelectronics semi conductors and electronic systems.
We're based in the UK and we represent about 250 companies. We help our companies share
knowledge, we create opportunities for commercial and technical development, and we have a host
of networks to help us do that.
We work with a number of groups, so we have member companies who are designers, who are
suppliers, who are manufacturers, who are electronic systems companies, and we have
specialist networks for each one of those. There are many member benefits for joining
NMI. At an operational view, we deal with many manufacturing companies, and we deal
with every discipline from health and safety, to production, to engineering, and we provide
specific specialist forums for each of those groups, so that companies can share knowledge
safely, and become more efficient and more cost effective. Because we've got a lot
of industry knowledge we are able to tap into that intelligence within each company and
draw out common themes and that's how we go about our knowledge sharing activities
and setting up various forums for companies to share information.
We represent companies to government both at a regional level and a national level,
and with their interests at heart. Knowing our members is vital because they drive us
in what we do. So we gain steering from these guys; What are the opportunities? What are
the strengths? And where are the areas where companies need help? Listening is everything
because that's the way you find out what the problems are, and what help companies
need and that's how we can find solutions.
