>> With Google Analytics, you can create custom filters that define what data is included
in your reports and how it appears. Creating a custom filter is quick and easy
to do. Let's say you want to review only the data
from visitors who are in France. Simply create a custom filter that includes
traffic from that country only. Now, the important thing to remember is, before
creating any filters, you should always make sure to keep a profile that has no filters
applied. This way, if your filters don't function as
planned or you need more data than you originally thought, you can always go back to this original
profile. Since we have an unfiltered profile here,
we can create a new filter in a different profile.
To start, click 'filter manager' on the Analytics Settings page.
To create a new filter, click 'add filter'. Enter a filter name.
Let's say, "Include only visitors from France." We'll then select the radio button for custom
filter. Your custom filter options will populate below.
As you can see, there are six filter types you can choose from.
Since we only want to include users from France, we'll select an include filter type.
The next option we need to select is the filter field.
Notice from the drop down window that there are numerous fields that you can use to create
a filter. In this example, we will select 'visitor country'.
Next, we have to fill in the filter pattern, which in this case is France.
Under the "Apply filter to website profile" section, select the available website profiles
to which this filter will be applied. Click 'add' to move the selected profiles
into the selected website profiles list. Once you click 'save changes', the filter
will be created. For more information, please visit Google.com/Analytics.
