TVNZ has been grilled by the Commerce Select Committee
over the investigation into bias at the station and the actions
of former staff members.
CEO Keven Kenrick says the outcome of the inquiry will determine
what changes are made at TVNZ
but ruled out structure changes
to the Maori and Pacific Programmes Department.
Our political reporter Irena Smith has more.
They arrived at Parliament for the Financial Review,
but they were grilled on another issue.
Most of the hour session in the Commerce Select Committee
was taken up with questions about the inquiry into Shane Taurima
and weather there was any editorial bias in Maori Programmes and TVNZ.
The CEO says they took Shane Taurima's word
when he assured them
he had no desire to chase his political aspirations,
they are now reviewing their policy
around conflict of interest declarations and what allegiances
they have to any political party.
Staff are still being interviewed as part of the inquiry,
but it's unlikely to be a fast turnaround.
The CEO will have to carry the allegations
until the report is released.
