last week we told you about fresno state university professor paid issue got a
bit of trouble
for in her human sexuality class showing up for new graphics film as sort of an
educational aid four class a deputy just for you right here we actually hadn't
seen high in the previous clip on this um... but obviously there was a lot of
an uproar about this uh... some people thought to be offensive that she was
showing what they consider to be pornographic material
now as we told you on
the clip was somewhat exploit so explicit but it was for educational
purposes put up by company
to teach people about safer and you know emotionally responsible sexuality
uh... and so because of the uh... the uproar in some of the criticism that she
got
uh... peggy just came out with a statement that we found on the
huffington post
and she said this
as the week unfolded in the truth began to emerge it became obvious that nothing
newsworthy took place in my classroom on tuesday which makes me feel silly for
covering twice but i wish that i could take credit for something innovative and
truly groundbreaking but i cannot those courageous in pioneering efforts took
place more than forty years ago as others paved the way for human sexuality
courses to be taught at the universities across the nation
now and then i talked about this last week about how
is their value to showing materials like this a human sexuality coursing is it
okay or is it sort of a not understandable for student to be so
freaked out by what do you think
issue for some no one should
uninsured put it all in the class l from what we know that sort of uh... material
they were advised before going into class on the syllabus that that would be
graphic materials
um... wraps it in expected to be quite so graphic but do you think that there's
some educational value in showing explicit materials on human sexuality
course well i've never taken a human sexuality cars honey what would you
shell that wouldn't be considered pornographic
borer at having tea jack i don't understand even in high school health
classes you see uh... details
you pictures appears to be the word
that also means
exaggerated and as we said in the club last week
uh... my found during some of my online research into the certs materials that
uh... eliminate a harley who we've had on one of the issue of our network
before she produces the
sort of couples focused series of pornographic films where she walks a
couple through various *** acts teach them here
it was definitely where she would you consider which is like fifty-five years
old
um... but i think that there's something to be learned not just in the reading
about syphilis and gonorrhea but about
you've seen *** acts performed understanding what's normal because we
all
go into our intimate encounters with
what we've learned growing up in the new is it really that bad of a thing to see
sort of objective look at it well what do you expect to take from human
sexuality course
i don't know i have actually taken and i haven't taken either
but it's just like
you have to expect there's gonna be some amount of sex and human sexuality course
yeah
yeah so it it seems a bit offer student to be so bothered by it
uh... she goes on to say i i strongly believe that the debate stirred up over
this controversy actually serves to reinforce the profoundly
to offer these very courses in human sexuality and i think that that's
actually really good point and then if students who were in college these are
not
you know sixteen seventeen year old students they're deciding or so
uh... if they're going into these classes and still having a problem with
these sorts of materials and not feeling comparable
talking about and even an academic setting i think that peggy dishes right
we probably need more education
