A common complaint we get here latemodelrestoration.com
is that even after you replace all of your cooling system,
you still may get a little bit of over-heating
on your Fox Mustang.
Typically you can trace that back
to a completely missing radiator air deflector.
Now this bolts on the right here to the bottom
of the core support.
And these typically get torn off by parking bumpers,
speed bumps, anything like that.
Any type of front-end collision, they may not get replaced.
Or they just completely crack up,
and nobody even notices they're gone.
Now there's four attaching bolts with clip nuts.
Now a couple of these clip nuts are missing.
But luckily, we have a complete 50resto Replacement Hardware
Kit that comes with new bolts and new clip nuts.
So I'm going to go ahead and take me a small flat blade
screwdriver and get these remaining clip nuts out
of the way, and then slide the new hardware into place.
And you can take your new clip nuts
and slide them in each of their respective places.
All right.
Now you can take your radiator air deflector.
Notice it's L-shaped here at the top.
That L needs to be pointing back, flat to the front.
You want to start all of your bolts loosely.
And don't tighten any of them until you get all four started.
And this is because the bottom of the core support
is not perfectly flat.
And your car may be just like this one,
where it's actually suffered a little bit of core support
damage and is bent in one area, making just a little bit more
difficult to line everything up.
Luckily, this plastic is pretty forgiving
so you're able to get it pretty well where you need it to go.
And these will take you either a 7/16 or 11 millimeter socket
to tighten them up.
I'm going to go ahead and use my air ratchet
and suck all these down.
All right.
Everything's lined up.
Now, we'll be forcing the air up through the condenser
in the radiator, keeping your Mustang a little bit cooler.
