So here’s what we’ve done . . .we’ve re-invented how you tell your story. Now why
do you want to tell a story . . .because it’s intoxicating; because it’s the stories that
connect with your customer’s emotions and fact is we’re all emotional buyers. . .there
has never been more truth to the ol’ adage facts tell, but stories sell. Picture this:

. . .because you can shut out the world for a weekend; curl up with your honey and a great
book; snuggle by the toasty crackling fire lulled into solitude by the crashing waves

island locals! A Taste of Bowen could market the experience before it happens—then update
the information for next year’s pre-sales. People Plants and Places could step folks
into the experience long before the event with a breath-taking slide show of previous
homes . . .
IMAGINE showing being able to show what Bowen Trunk Road looked like in the 1920’s or
the look on the face of someone who has just consumed a piece of Cocoa West’s organic
chocolate heaven. There’s no end to the possibilities.
What’s Experience Bowen Island 2014 look like? . . . Consider your ad like a doorway
to your bigger story. Your customer downloads this app to their mobile phone and scans your
Experience Bowen Island Ad you're your interactive story lifts off the page just like Harry Potter’s
did. It’s the same glossy brochure we’ve be
producing since 2006, your print ads will be the same, and heck if you want to stick
with the look you already have, you can just re-book your last year’s ad. And for some,
that may be all you want to do! But for those of you who want to connect with
your customer and grow your business . . .Come tell their story and simply fascinate. . .those
folks who want to be where their customers are, in the palm of their hand—you’ll

In the paper world, we really don’t have any way to measure the success of an ad unless
a contest is attached to it. And som of you have said, I’m just not going to advertise
because I don’t see any results . . .and ya know we get that. But here’s 2 things
I want to tell you. 1. we’ve been doing these BI brochures consecutively
since 2006; missing only one year, 2010 and that year and the year follwoing there was
a drop in tourist visits to the island 2. this is a community and when a mainland
viewer ponders if the visit is worth the journey . . .they look to see what the whole community
has to offer, frankly each business plays an integral part in the collection of stories
Now the idea in every digital encounter is to incorporate a Call To Action, it’s that
something you want your viewer to do so that you can begin a relationship with them. In
the print world we called them response rates. And the Direct Selling industry tells us or
direct mail to an existing customer average about 3.40%
• compared the average Click Through Rate for email which sits at about 2.2%
• unless you’re a really advanced marketer with great success then it goes up to 8.3%
• this mobile phone app has a Click Through Rate of 87% and it’s trackable!
Statistics just released in August confirm that 60% of the US population owns a smart
phone and tablets are PC sales out of the water this year. Current trends suggest that
PC’s saw their last peak year in 2011.
So what does this mean for you and your business on Bowen . . .your customer’s gone mobile.

include being entertained (63% of respondents), watching funny videos (51%), relaxing (44%),
and staying up to date with the latest news (40%).
The paper brochure will be distributed year round on the Bowen Island Ferry and to 256
tourist locations in and around Metro Vancouver in the tourist season. And we want you to
know, we’ve been listening to you . . .Jan Stevens said . . .this has gotta come out

Canada is the 3 largest user (following the Netherlands and US).
