This tutorial is going to show you how to make these flower cell phone holders
and for this project
you're going to need
a five-millimeter hook
or for US an H hook
and also four millimeter hook, or size 6 or F in the US
the smaller hook is used
to make the flower and the buttons. If you want a bigger flower then
use a bigger hook
but for the main part
of the holder your going
to be using a size
H or a five-millimeter hook
and also you will need
a tapestry needle
to sew on the
button and flower
and you're going to need
two different colors
I've got
ginger and gold
in hopes they
show up on
the camera
better
I made a tutorial on these before
but the camera was bad
and so i decided to go out and get a new camera
and also the yarn I used was
too dark or to bright so I'm hoping that this is going to be good
This tutorial is going to be more
for the advanced crocheter
I'm not going to show you how to do the slip knot
Okay lets start, grab your five-millimeter hook / H hook
and
chain eleven
Counting...
Counting...
eleven
okay and you need to double crochet
in the thrid chain from the hook
the first two chains here will count as the first stitch
so
double crochet in the thrid chain from the hook
and as you can see there's
too stitches here
you will need a total of ten
so keep double crocheting
along the chain
until you have
ten stitches
Counting...
Counting...
Counting...
Counting...
and ten
now you need to
pivot your work
we will now be working
in the bottom
stitches
starting with
the last double crochet you did
here
and then
the next stitch
double crochet
you need to mirror basically what you just did
on the other side, except on this side
you need nine
instead of ten
double crochets
so that's four
five
six
seven
eight
nine
okay
now
the two chains
that we skipped at the
beginning
go into the top chain
and slip stitch
to complete the bottom
and you want to make sure that your
facing the right side
not the back side
k now
you want to chain one
and pull up to extend your loop
and in the next stitch
double crochet
Now go one stitch back in reverse
where you slip stitched into
and do a double crochet
to complete the cross stitch
that's your first one
you need to becareful when you're doing this
if you can see here
I have a stitch worked
into this one
it can be hard to see
so be sure to check your sticthes
skip a stitch and double crochet
then back up one stitch and double crochet
finshing your cross stitch
skip a stitch
and start our next cross stitch here
and continue this around
until you have a total ten cross stitches
sorry, fighting with a hair
my hair always seems to find a way into my crochet
i'm sure if you've crocheted long enough
and you have long hair, it
you know what I mean
I've been crocheting since I was
five, when my mom started teaching me and my
sister my brother learned to chain but I
am the only one to continue on
my brother and sister
gave up
opkay let me count, four five six seven eight nine, I need one more
when you get to the end here
there's a previous beginning stitch
slip stitch at the top
then chain one
and pull up
repeat
then go all the way around again
do that and I'll be back in a second
okay I am at my last
cross stitch on a second
..I mean my third row
but my second row of cross stitches
when you come to the end here
when you see that there's a
this is the
beginning
you have a little space here
it is supposed to be there, don't worry
don't double crochet in it
or try to fit in another cross stitch
just skip over the space
and slip stitch
chain one and continue because
it becomes a hole
that matches along with it
just makes it
all even
now i have a
ridge
like that
small one
but i think it kinda looks stylish
not a big deal
anyway continue around
again doing the same thing you need a total of
eight
cross stitch rounds
so continue on
and when you get to the end of your
cross stitch round i'll see you back here
okay I'm finishing my last cross stitch
on my eighth round
slip stitch as usual
the thing about the
flap at the top
you need to do in only on one side
and it needs to be centered
so that it folds over without excess on either side
and you need a total of ten stitches to do that
to make sure it's going to be
right, I can already tell you're gonna have to slip stitch one more time
into the next stitch
then count ten stitches
one two three four five six seven eight nine ten
it's good that it ends here
it doesn't end on the side
you want to
chain three
turn your work
and start double crocheting
for a total of ten
the chain three counts as a stitch
so that's two
three
four
five
six
seven
eight
nine
ten
then chain three again
and repeat last row again
all along the top
for a total of three
double crochet rows
to make this flap
I'll meet you back here when yur done
when you've reached the end of row three
chain one
and cut your yarn. Best to leave enough tail to be worked in with a tapestry needle
if not use your smaller hook
and put it in here
and hide your tail
in your stitches
tug slightly
to make sure no tail is sticking out
and that's your cell phone holder!
Now for the Flower, keep using the same size hook
4 mm hook
and using
the same color you for your holder
to make the center of the flower
chain three
then
slip stitch into the first
chain to form a ring
and chain one
now you need to
single crochet
eleven times
inside the ring
two
three
four
five
working over your tail
six
seven eight
nine
ten
eleven, then slip stitch into the first stitch
of the round
chain one
and cut your yarn
I used the same color as the holder
but you could use any color you like
so
try other colors
now you need
your secondary color
so for the petals of the flowers
you need to
slip stitch
I usually slip stich into the stitch
next to the place I fastened off
my yarn
that way you can work in both tails as you go
so slip stitch on your color
and chain seven
counting... six seven
then slip stitch into the next stitch
and chain seven
then just continue to do this all the way around
six, seven
this is
very simialr to the way
you make the flowers for the flower purse
that's where I got the idea for this flower
simple
okay I have
counting.... ten petals
I may have room here for one more petal
you can leave it at ten but
I like to crowd it some if I can
so I am going to make one more
less of a gap the better
okay when you get done with your last petal
chain one
cut your yarn leaving a tail
because you will use it for sewing
it on to the cell phone holder
painted
Now to make the button
it's the same
as you did before
chain three
slip stitch in the first chain
chain one
then you want to
single crochet eight
into the center of the ring
three
four
five
six
seven
eight, now slip stitch into the first stitch
and leave yourself a tail to use
for sewing
the button on
chain one and cut
okay
going to get my tapestry needle here
theres a technique I like to use to sew on the button
I use the front side of the button
the idea behind this
is, go down
to the second row from the top here
and you want to use
between two cross stitches
because your going to want to sew
around the center of the circle
leaving the outside free
like this
see the outside's free
sew around the center
that way
you have grips
to hold it
so i like to do usually
is to come up
because i don't like the way it sticks outside like that
so i'll come up near the
center
near the center
okay so
put it between two stitches
then you want to make sure you capture this
when you're sewing, that your not hitting air
and sew it
onto
these two stitches back here
find a piece
near the center
okay so when you've made it around
I go through the back
like this
pull it until you have a loop
then feed your needle through
to make a knot
I typically do this three times
then finding a tight place to put my needle in to
pull my yarn through, it
keeps it from
coming undone
then the last one
just hide your tail
and cut
ok next you need to get your flower
I want to tell you about this button here
you have ten stitches, use the hole in between the center
five stitches on each side, button in the center
when sewing the flower on
put something inside
so you don't sew through both sides
spread out your petals the way you like
making it look nice
so how I sew my flower on
is I'll go in, here
then go into the cellphone holder
pull my petal
chain over my needle
and make sure that you don't
pull it to tight
or it will
scrunch up your
petal here
then on the way back
just go through the next chain
come up
to the center of the
beginning stich
don't pull to tightly
and that's how i sew it on
keep adjusting your flowers to make sure they don;t have
a lot of space in between
or that one side is more bunched up than the other
so keep checking
so that's it, that's the tutorial on how you make the cellphone holder
