In this video, I'll be answering the question "What is Low Testosterone?"
Before we get into that, we'll need to cover the basics about what is testosterone and
what role does it play in our bodies.
Don't worry, this isn't some boring science lecture. I'll only focus on the key points
that will give you the key information you need to understand this topic.
What is testosterone?
Testosterone is a hormone.
In other words, it's a chemical messenger that the body uses to deliver information
to various tissues , telling them to carry out a specific function.
If the nervous system is like email, the hormone system in the body is like the post office
it delivered its message a little slower.
Testosterone is part of the androgen group of sex hormones.
(Androgen = to produce man)
In fact, testosterone is the primary male sex hormone that is key to your health, well-being
and normal *** functioning.
What does testosterone do?
Testosterone is responsible for the development of all the typical adult male physical characteristics,
including:
- Muscle mass and strength, especially in the upper body
- Increase bone density and strength - Deep voice, growth of facial hair
- Assertive attitude - Robust libido
With this background information... we can look at what is low testosterone.
What is low testosterone?
Low testosterone is a condition in which there is not enough testosterone circulating in
the body to have your body perform at its peak state.
There are two ways that low testosterone can be diagnosed:
Clinical assessment, that is the symptoms associated with
low testosterone are present.
Diagnostic assessment, from a blood test or a saliva test.
The physical assessment and diagnostic assessment go hand in hand in making the diagnosis of
low testosterone.
So to summarize, low testosterone is a condition where there is not enough testosterone in
the body for it to perform at its peak state, and therefore causes specific symptoms.
