Hi, I'm Josie.
I'm a fashion design expert at StyleUnited, and today,
I'm gonna show you a couple quick tips
for a really cute ponytail.
This is really simple and you're gonna start just by
sectioning off two sections in the front of the hair,
just a couple inches of hair.
I'm just using the end of my teasing comb to part it out.
So, here you can see, kind of, how much I'm pulling forward.
I'm just gonna clip that to keep it out of the way.
All right, so I love ponytails with a bit of volume,
so kind of in the back section that I have here, I'm just gonna
take sections of hair, kind of using a really simple
teasing comb, and in one motion, kind of tease that section.
So there's need to go crazy, you know,
you don't have to yank on your hair, kind of, up and down,
this will do the trick and will be easy to comb out later.
And don't worry about being kind of too messy,
use the same brush and just kind of smooth it out,
going over the area that you teased really lightly.
And we're just gonna pull this section into a simple ponytail.
And you can use whatever elastic you like,
a clear elastic, or a bungee.
We're gonna cover the back of the ponytail
so you won't see the elastic here.
Tie that into a pony, and then if you want even more volume,
you can use the end of your teasing comb and kind of pull
the hair out -- it's one of my tricks for getting volume there.
And then you can kind of take the two ends and just, kind of,
pull it snug and it will get you that great bump.
So this first look, I'm gonna braid these two sections back.
So you kind of want to braid backwards versus to the side.
You just want to orient your hands over your head.
Just take three sections and do a simple braid back.
You could do a French braid here but those can be a bit trickier
and the look works just as well with a simple braid.
And then you're gonna take that hair and wrap it around
to hide the ponytail elastic, and then you're gonna
take a bobby pin and have the bump side towards the head,
secure the hair that's wrapped around the elastic.
And then the same thing with the other side.
And then to make sure it stays all day and to smooth
any fly-aways, just with a little bit of hairspray,
kind of spray it on, wait a second and smooth any fly-aways.
And if you want, kind of, more volume in the ponytail,
you can use a light hairspray to do that as well.
If you kind of want a messy, you know,
big ponytail, which is cute too.
And there you go, that's look one.
All right, so another variation on the ponytail,
I'm just gonna take this out really quick
'cause we're gonna keep everything else the same.
We're gonna keep the ponytail in the back and we still want
to use this hair that we've separated out towards the front.
So I've unbraided, but I still kind of have the hair
on both sides and, you know, the ponytail in the back,
and you can, kind of, check your volume
and make sure you have it just how you want it.
All right, so for this, I'm going to make my part a little
more severe, so I'm gonna part my hair a little more
to the side, still leave this hair over here.
All right, and this could not be easier.
You're just going to leave a little bit of volume and start
twisting the hair, and as you twist, you're gonna pick up
the hair along the way and you're gonna keep twisting.
And do the same thing, wrap the hair around the elastic
and secure with a bobby pin.
So you can kind of see how that's looking.
And then, the same thing on the side.
So, just a really simple way for a ponytail to look
just a bit more finished, a little bit more fun.
And that's look two.
