Hello and welcome to the UC Davis Student Housing video tutorial on how to apply for
housing in the residence halls. To begin the UC Davis Student Housing residence
hall application process you will first need to log into MyAdmissions.
Once in MyAdmissions you will need to accept your offer to UC Davis, and submit your Statement
of Intent to Register which is often referred to as "SIR".
After submitting your SIR you will need to click on "Housing Application Request" to
begin the Housing Application process. You will be redirected to the following page.
Please take special note of the message of the day pop up window. Important information
will be shared via the message of the day. The UC Davis Student Housing residence hall
application extracts your personal information from the University database SISWeb. Please
verify the information listed is correct. If you would like to make any changes to this
section you will need to complete that in SISWeb.
After you have verified the information click next to continue.
You will be directed to the Privacy and Disclosure section where you will need to answer the
questions. Take special note of the Renters insurance section. If you do not wish to have
renters insurance you must opt out of the program otherwise you will be billed monthly
by Grad Guard, a University of California renters insurance partner.
Also please take note of the Special Considerations section. If you have any issues impacting
your room assignment please describe that here. Try to be as descriptive as possible
so that UC Davis Student Housing can best accommodate you.
You will also need to complete and submit the Special Accommodation Form separate from
the housing application. Please submit your special considerations form via email or fax
to UC Davis Student Housing. Next you will have the opportunity to register
up to two people to be contacted should you go missing. These two individuals can be different
from the emergency contacts listed in SISWeb. Next you will chose which area you would prefer
to live in. Student Housing operates residence halls in three distinct areas of campus: Segundo,
Tercero, and Cuarto. Visit the Student Housing website at housing.ucdavis.edu or click on
each area listed here in the application for detailed information on each residence area.
Housing does their best to place each residence in their first area preference, but cannot
guarantee that all residents will receive their first choice.
Next you will need to set three living preferences. These living preferences will be used to determine
your placement in the residence halls. The system will work first to find a matching
assignment for your living preferences in Preference Set 1. If no match is found it
will then proceed to find a matching assignment in Preference Set 2, and then Preference Set
3. Your preference sets will be made up of the
following choices. - First: Shared interest community or opt
out no program. A shared interest community is a program on a special topic. Residents
often participate in community activities related to the topic. Students who decide
that living in a Shared-Interest Community is their primary consideration should make
Shared-Interest Community their first priority. If you do not wish to participate in a shared
interest community select opt out no program. - The second item impacting preference is
gender. Female students will have the option to live on a coed or all female floor. However
male residents will not have the option to live on an all-male floor.
- The third item comprising preferences is occupancy. Residents will have the option
to select single, double, or triple occupancy. The three preference sets cannot match; they
must be different from one another. Once you have decided on your living preferences click
next to continue. Student Housing requires residence hall students
to have a meal plan. There are many meal plan options to choose from so you can find one
that best suits your needs. Meal plans also include $100 in Aggie Cash per quarter. Aggie
Cash can be spent at a variety of places both on and off campus.
In the roommate group section you can request or accept an invitation to live with specific
individuals. Student Housing has partnered with RoomSync, a Facebook application, to
help you find someone to room with. Follow this link to RoomSync to be connected with
other UC Davis students who are looking for housing in the residence halls. Once you have
found your roommate in RoomSync you will need to return here to complete the roommate invitation
process. All parties in the roommate group must have the same living preferences. Be
sure to communicate your living preferences with those you wish to live with.
Once you have added all the necessary and required housing application information precede
to the sign contract section of the application. Here will define the terms of your contract.
You will need to electronically sign the contract to continue to the next step.
Once you have signed the contract you will need to submit a $500 reservation fee to hold
you spot with UC Davis Student Housing. Payment can be submitted electronically with an eCheck
through MyBill or you can send it via mail. If you choose to mail your payment be sure
it is postmarked on or before the specified date.
Next you will be directed to the application summary page. Please review and check the
information for accuracy. If you need to edit your information use the tabs at the left
hand side of the application to go to the section you wish to change.
Any items requiring your attention will be listed under the application status section.
Here will describe what you still need to complete on the application.
If you decide to withdrawal from UC Davis or do not wish to live in the residence halls
you can cancel your housing application. If you have any questions regarding the application
process or UC Davis Student Housing use the Ask Me feature. AskMe! provides residents,
prospective students, and parents with answers to frequently-asked questions. If you cannot
find the answer to your question you can submit it and receive an email response.
