My name is Brent Shelly with Expert Village and we are talking about lighting designs
today. There are a few more residential spaces that I would like to take a look at one being
the bedroom. What are the specific visual tasks in the bedroom. Well one is getting
dressed and preparing to leave the house. So you need to think about how am I going
to light my whole body not just from above, not just from the side but how do I get light
in all directions so that I can really see what I am going to look like when I go outside.
Another visual task is reading. A lot of people like to read in bed and this is tough sometimes
when your spouse or significant other wants to sleep and you want to read. What I like
to do is provide a different light for each person with a convenient wall switch next
to the bed to turn the light on and off or dim their light. You can use a MR16 in a 4
inch adjustable down light to provide a very narrow beam of light so that one person can
read and the other person can sleep. This affect is kind of like on an airline where
you have an individual light for each seat. When you get enough light so that you can
read, but not so much light that you bother your neighbor.
