Richard he's the man with a big ole giant plan.
Always here to assist with his helping hands From Project Mindwell to a Steadycam.
Or when you need a friend to say, "Yes you can!"
Oh man... check out all of this great stuff. Oh this is amazing! [acts startled]
Oh... hey! How's it going? This is Richard Stephenson at RichardStep.com
And I'd like to welcome you to Project Seekall Task 2: A *** Plan.
The what or purpose of this task is to build an ingredients list of materials that you
can use for future projects as well as to help other people with their tasks and projects
and daily lives.
The why or intent of this project is to minimize the monetary impact on you so that you may
better serve the community without too much of a burden on yourself. This also enables
those who are less fortunate to participate.
This task has two main phases: repurposing and gathering.
Repurpose: to use something in a way other than originally intended.
Resell: to locate, procure, and utilize low to no-cost resources.
Retail: to take advantage of poorly or underutilized resources.
Forage: to scout the local environment for items of use.
Is it just me or does this seem like a defensive driving course?
Repurpose: this can include such things as turning an old juice bottle into a funnel
or planter.
Old tires... into... sandals.
Or such awesome things as CANES!!! ...for something.
And don't forget natural items such as cattails.
Which are almost entirely edible, their stalks can provide light support, and their leaves
can be used for cordage.
And now on to the gathering methods.
Resell: gathering items from second hand sources can be a fun adventure.
Garage sales are often cheap, but get there early.
Goodwill is a tad more expensive, but proceeds benefit the needy.
EBay can be very cheap and it can be very competitive.
Flea markets are also a cheap source.
Craigslist is a great way to source locally.
FreeCycle is for completely free stuff and can be competitive.
Retail: your local grocery store can supply a lot of usually thrown away items like...
frosting or icing buckets from the Bakery.
Tarp-like rice bags.
Floral planters.
Seedling starting containers.
And even company samples, for instance, fasteners.
Be especially safe, careful, and mindful of local laws, regulations, and good-old-fashioned
respect before attempting any foraging activities.
Nature is an awesome place to forage. Water retention ponds, lakes, streams, and sometimes
even parks are hotbeds of natural resources.
Apartment complex dumpsters are a gold mine!
Construction dumpsters can be fantabulous!
Highway cruising can net you... buckets... tire treads... wood... AND CANES!!!
Whoa... that was quite a trip wasn't it?
If ya'll could go ahead and put your comments, uh, down below.
Maybe come up with some ideas of your own repurposing plans or uh gathering plans and
we can either make a really good database of these types of things or I could uh have
a compilation video to follow. Of course, you guys would all be featured in that uh
so come on help out!
I wanted to thank ya'll for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the video and it prepares
you for future ones.
I hope you'll subscribe, like the video, comment, share it, tweet it, and I'll be uploading
the notes (including story-board) of this video to the blog at RichardStep.com. Check
it out.
Have a good one!
