Brazil, to what point or motion do you rise?
Honorable Chair, honorable delegates, Brazil would like to appeal the decision of the chair.
In regard to rules, we were extremely well prepared. Better than many others, I think.
We just always knew what was going on and what was going to happen next.
It’s a completely different thing, whether you are sitting in a small mock session with 20-30 people
or in a huge room and everyone suddenly jumps up when the floor is open.
Uruguay.
Honorable Chair, distinguished excellencies, Uruguay is present.
Well, first impression: extremely exhausting, much more exhausting than expected, and
the most brutal moment was when the screaming started at the beginning of the first caucus...
...because everyone disappeared in the room and nobody knew where anyone else was sitting.
So that was quite a challenge, but I think we have mastered this first day quite well.
You guys are cute! Thanks!
Well, we have to say that the Americans are very open minded and you can get in touch with them very easily.
A sick amount of people from all over the world, and you get into a conversation with everyone, and,
yeah, this internationality was awesome!
Well, there were Americans, Italians, Canadians, to a big part Germans...
and this made the whole thing a lot more multifaceted than I had expected.
*yaaaaawn*
Yesterday night, I woke up in my room at 4 o’clock, still wearing my suit,
because I was so damn tired from the conferences that I had just fallen asleep without noticing it.
A lot of work, because sessions last until 10:30pm
and you have to postpone all other activities such as having dinner, which shortens the daily routine.
If you then want to get up early enough to be on time for the first session, you end up with less sleep.
The best delegate to work with,
to caucus with,
to listen to in speeches!
Up to the end, we have had one of the more successful working papers.
We had over 120 signatories of the 170 delegations present and only five sponsors.
Yesterday, our working paper was accepted by the chair nearly without corrections,
which was really honorab... made us feel really honored.
I really wanted to speak in front of the whole group at least once,
and, I think that worked out pretty well.
Good morning honorable chair, good morning fellow delegates,
Uruguay is really delighted with the efforts and the good ideas this committee came up with in the last days
and especially for Uruguayans, the regional zones seem really attractive to us as a good solution.
Los impactos negativos de la crisis financiera llegaron a casi todos miembros de la ONU.
The negative impacts of the present crisis have reached every single UN member.
The United States has always and will persist to work with the United Nations
to bring concerted international pressure to bear against perpetrators of atrocities.
But we see the need to improve efficiency, accountability and transparency to improve the mission’s acceptance.
The task of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay nowadays is to build bridges between different countries.
We are open to join other groups and to merge our positions.
This is what we consider the right thing to do.
Working together with Columbia, Georgia, Estonia and Peru,
Uruguay deals with the issues affecting a variety of countries.
Because what is important is not, who is supposed to be in which block,
but rather the problems resulting from the global drug trade.
Afterwards it felt really good to receive notes from the pagers
saying “Great, good speech, let’s meet up later.”
I would definitely do it again next year, because it was a whole lot of fun.
It really was great fun, it was definitely worth it and I would always do it again.
