millions of people use social media and some to vent about a bad day that they
had at work
but when can that lead to potentially losing a job because of what they posted
well here talk about social media use in the workplace is Tanzania

in even if you are posting something on the social media site that you think is

its actually not wholly private it is limited
maybe on there's a zone of privacy that you have
but once you close it out there for social media
or out their online anywhere your expectation of privacy is automatically
diminished
and therefore you can't necessarily expect that your employer
or someone who knows your employer or your players clients or other service
providers
aren't going to be able to see whatever it is that you've posted
ends legally you can get fired if you post something that
18 inappropriate damaging to their reputation I mean where's that line
between
okay to post so I had a crappy day at work and not okay to post
I can't stand my boss and stuff like that that right there is a great example
on of course it's going to be okay for you to say I have crappy day at work
on but that the second one I'm I can stay in my boss now we're entering
into an area where there might be some issues
I'm so many things need to be taken into consideration is

when do you make the posts are you making this post you know at work I am
why are you making this poses a direct attack on someone at work
and why are you making this post on that was there
something an occurrence at work that has lead out into
after work in your continued to talk about it and the reason why those things
are important because
there's legitimate business interest in a company for them to
have their employees who work for them abide by certain policies that they have
and then there's also a competing interest at the employees where they
have
you know certain zone of privacy I should be able to blow off steam when I
get off work

but there's it is very delicate balancing act
I'm what an employee he needs to take into consideration
is that when you're hired by a firm or company

if when the social media policy is drafted if you refer back to those
policies that gives them play

what advice would you give to them you cannot directly attacked someone

but I think what employees and employers do need to take in consideration
as that we have these policies in place
employment people and then there's laws in
and state and federal laws agency laws that govern
how we can conduct ourselves out there in society in the workplace
they what people I would like them to change the perception is as these aren't
necessarily stricter rules and you can't
and I must its this adjusts rules that govern how we should conduct ourselves
so we have an idea

has their own set of rules in when you enter into an employment agreement
here's stating you know I'm working for you we now have a relationship
and I'm going to conduct myself in a manner that is consistent with the
mission of my company
and the company has a legitimate business reason
to make sure that that employees conducts themself net Maynard all points

then clients might see it um
service providers might see it there might be regulators that
might see it and those are things that could hurt the company
and they really do have a legitimate reason for saying hey knock it off
you know this this is going to hurt us and technically when you hurt the
employer you actually hurting the employees as well
because you potentially could lose your job and that's the whole point so maybe
just stick to you
