Hi, it’s Steve from PartSelect. Today we’re going to show you how to change an oven door
hinge on your range. It’s a really easy job; all you’ll need is a Phillips screw
driver, and a pair of pliers. Let me show you how we do it.
Now to begin this repair we’ll start by removing the oven door so we’ll open it
to the broil position (it should stay there by itself), and while grasping both sides
we’ll just pull straight up and that disengages it from the hinges. We can now set the door
aside.
Now our next step will be to remove the storage drawer, simply slide it forward until it catches
on its stops, then lift up the front, and pull it the remainder of the way out. We can
set that aside.
Next we’re going to disengage the spring from the hinge. We can do that from inside
the storage drawer area and just take note on the hinge which notch the spring is engaged
on, and then with a pair of needle nose pliers we’ll pull them off.
Set the spring aside, now we can remove three phillips screws that hold the hinge to the
face of the oven body, and then you can just pull the hinge through the opening.
Discard the old one.
Slide the new one into position, secure it with the three screws, tighten these screws
securely.
Next we’re going to reengage that spring into the same notch the original was on. Make
sure it’s firmly into that slot on the bottom of the hinge, just check the operation, and
while you have it apart you should check the opposite hinge as well if you weren’t all
ready planning on replacing it because chances are both hinges will wear at the same time.
If it needs to be replaced now would be the time to do it.
Now we’re ready to replace the storage drawer. Line up the rear glides on the track, lift
it up enough to clear the stops, and push it into position. Tilt both hinges out to
the broil position and we’re ready to put the door back on.
Now we’re ready to reinstall the door, we’ll line up these two openings in the bottom with
the tops of the hinges, just catch one of them, and line it up with the other one, slide
it down firmly into place, check the operation, and our repair is complete.
Told you it was an easy job. Thanks for watching, and good luck with your repair.
